Title: How to get your tank exposed-a tutorial
Post by: General_Henry on 19-05-2009, 03:05:16
this tutorial would teach you how to expose your tank...

1. Fire MG at targets you not gonna shoot.

2. kill some infantries near a tank which haven't spotted you yet. esp with MG.

3. keep missing your shots at an enemy tank which haven't spotted you yet, unless his speaker is off.

4. Start camping in the middle of a desert.  Thinking that enemy tanks would mistaken you as a giant cactus....

5. hiding your tank with your engine on, unless you think your engine exhaust is invisible.   :P

hehe this is actually a funny point. I once actually fooled three shermans on El Alamein with the Panzer 4 F2.
I set my tank at the broken down opel blitz with the fuel tank south of eastern positions, you know the one that is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I positioned the Panzer so it wasnt really facing the attackers and had the smoke of the Opel Blitz look like my engine was smoking, then I turned my turret around a bit and pointed the gun to the ground. None of the three shermans knew that I wasnt a static, as when they had passed me (they could have shot my exposed rear hull), I opened fire, taking two of them down. First sherman got knocked out by the 88 at the south flag.

Hay you stole my cru3 spot!! I got like 20 tankkills from there and 2 stukas trying to bomb me, but failed. I knoked out the 88's probably first.

Theres a hill on Aberdeen inside one of the small "lakes" in the map where you can park on the hill and have a nice field of view, but a very small silihouette.

Another thing to attract more attention
is to fire your MG at planes, i located and often destroyed Enemy Armour thanks to them firing the Mg (or main gun for that matter!) in the air

You should be careful with that. People running on low settings (with no dynamic lighting) can easily tell the difference between vehicles and statics, because vehicles appear much darker.

You sure know your low settings.  :P

Low settings can be very useful. Your game may look suckass but people using high settings all know that hiding in vegetation is very useful. If the enemy is using low settings he will easily spot you from a distance.
Beware of the microwave users!

Low settings set for the purpose of getting advantage over your opponent and not because of your pc's hardware capabilities is for loosers.

*Fix'd it for ya.

When FH 2.15 was released, the Tiger tank was THE vehicle everyone wanted to drive.

So just as someone mentioned before, i parked my Crusader along a other Tank wrech near gabes.
As the tiger tank comes, it simply Drives PAST me!

But like 10 infantery are supporting it.So i first fire that sweet 6 pounder at the rear and after some shots, i manage to kill the tiger....While ALL those Precious German infantery have no cover at all ^^

Oh yes, their was blood.

Umm, does 6 pounder even penetrate tiger from behind. I have got shot many times to ass by crusader but haven't taken any damage, but if the crusader is on a hill and shoot on my tank it does damage.

I once surprised tiger from behind with crusader mk.III and shot like 7 times to tigers ass. No gamage....

There is a sweet spot on the rear that can down it in 3 or so shots.

Won't tell, though.  ;)

6 pounder has better penetration than the 75mm on the Sherman. It might have been a 2 pounder you were using.

I know how to take 70% damage by one hit from 6pdr [Won't tell, though].  ;). Hard to do but i did it few times :)

When you fire to tiger, dont fire to rear, fire to last whell: 3 hits and tiger is in tiger`s heaven

Don't forget the following beauties, although I might've gone off topic a bit.

Pick up a hitchhiker to sit in the machine gunner's spot on your tank and mindlessly chew through round after round all over the place, giving the enemy roughly 10 minutes to prepare for your arrival.

Repeatedly shoot the main gun vaguely in the direction of where some enemy troops might just happen to be.

Get out of your tank to repair without first checking your immediate surroundings, forgetting of course that empty vehicles show up on minimaps.

Get out of your tank and jump on top of it to use your binoculars.

Don't use the third person camera views to make sure the main gun on your Panther isn't sticking out of the barn/shrubbery.

Don't switch to the 3rd spot on the StuG when you're trying to be all stealthy. Yeah, being able to see 360 degrees around your vehicle without making a sound is a surprisingly well-kept secret in this community.

If you're in a fast tank such as a Cromwell or Crusader, make sure to completely ignore your overwhelming speed advantage and be sure to stop and fire at the Tiger head on.

Don't take the time to learn how the tank sights actually work.

Be sure to ignore what the vehicle you're driving was actually intended for. Go take on those dang Panzers head on in your M10, go throw your Jagdpanzer IV into that crowd of T-34s.

Ignore the fact that turning your main gun (and, to enemy infantry, your field of view) away from where they are, only to switch to the hull MG and cut them in half is a good way to deal with infantry.

Make sure never to bail Shermans or Panzer IIIs, but feel free to bail the odd Firefly and King Tiger whenever a pesky anti-tank gun scratches the paint.

If you hear that clank of a satchel charge being thrown on to your tank, drive off at full speed. Don't worry, the satchels NEVER fall off, no matter how fast you're going.

Be sure to drive into that flag next to all the houses with tons of windows without any infantry escort to cap that flag. After all, how will you be 1st at the end of the round if you haven't gotten those 2 points?

Don't do any single player practice to find the weak spots of enemy tanks, just fire at them as soon as you see them and everything will always work out in your favor.

i like how noobs bail their king tiger/IS2 when they hear a satchel placed on it.

of course, it end up losing a full-health tank and the bailer is blown to pieces by the satchel or mow down by gunfire, sometimes from their bailed tank.

and yeah, i have seen people bailing out of their tank just because i shout "fire in the hole" and throw a nade to make the sound of a satchel ... of course , i captured the tank and killed him.  :P (i know this isn't realistic ...)

I'm usually on the Allied side of things on 'King Tiger maps', and it's 100% guaranteed that at some point during the map the King Tiger (or, indeed a regular ol' Tiger I) will be bailed with a fair amount of health left, and it will be quickly repaired by the Allies, usually until mistakenly knocked out by the jerkoff in the M36 Jackson that wasn't paying attention to the cheers of WE GOT KT!!!!!!!!! in the team chat.

the only cause for my to bail a tank is that i know it would certainly (100%) got destroyed and i have some chance to survive if i bail. I never bail unless i hit "E" accidentally. This "rule" applies for both FH1 and FH2 for me.

I rarely do field repairs myself so only in 1 out of 100 tankings i do bail.

wait, we are going off topic

talking about exposure of tanks, sometimes i see people driving to our lines pretenting they are our tanks... (i don't know if he don't see me or what) I am sometimes really surprised.

This tactic works in FH1 where you can steal tanks and when enemies are too sleepy to check minimap...

Take a Stuart/Crusader and ram it into the nearest Tiger Tank, then fire your main gun at it once and run, leavin the back of your tank exposed to the Tiger, which will shoot a round into you and go right through your tank and right out the front and tk a Panzer 4 right infront of you, while mysteriously noone in your tank got harmed while theres a big hole in the back of your tank.

oooh that sounds migthy familiar

I once captured a Panther tank on Meuse river line, so i park it nicely on the island

The ENTIRE game, i survived...Killing many German tanks   2 shermans stood next to me, and provided me with cover/bait(One of the Jumbos saved my ass when i was red HP, and he drove in front of me take inc fire)

So what happens on the last 15 tickets? The guy manning the PRIEST, fired on my rear......

In front of him stood a GMC truck, 2 sherman (One jumbo one 76mm), the entire round, people said=Fix the friendly panther or something like that

And this one guy drives his priest behind us, And fires at us...Saying=Wtf?It was friendly?

At times like that...........you break

I see  :)  Thanks for the info Ionizer and Die Happy. Good to know. Sounds alittle dangerous with a 10 second delay though, but better than being spotted immediately i guess.

The best moment in tanking has got to be when you are hidden for ambush and see an enemy tank driving around in front of you with its back exposed. You immediately get excited and fire off a shot which, of course, hits a freaking camel 100m to the right of the target. At this point your adrenaline sky-rockets and you frantically slam the mouse button and curse the reloading time as the enemy slowly turns around and points his barrel straight at you. O_O

At the last second you blow him up and you collapse on your keyboard from exhaustion and stress, relieved to be alive... only to be blown up 2 seconds later by his friend whom you never noticed. -_-
