* N24Reporter hits hi with a large trout.
It's a damn classic in terms of martial arts movies. /facepalm
Ong Bak 1 and Tom Yum Gong are masterpieces of martial art.
Some of the stunt scenes are really unbelievable and he made them all himself. Tony Jaa FTW !!

2001: A Space Odyssey 9/10
It was very long and there was a lot of faffing about that could have been cut, but the music made it worth it.

2010: The Year We Make Contact 8/10
Stayed close to the original, but it didn't quite have the same feeling.

2010 get's an 8? Really? That was one of the worst sequels I've ever seen. You can't just make a sequel without Kubrick and expect it to be good.

I liked it, but whatever.  Taste is subjective.

The Way Back (2010)
by Peter Weir
Starring Ed Harris, Colin Farell, and else

Nice, long, and just that. It is about a long walk, still a WW2 themed movie, that is, a Polish officer caught and sent to Gulag, and he escaped with a few bands and walk all the way to India for freedom. There are several survival stuffs there, from snow, wolves, mosquito, dessert, freakin tundra, anything central Asia could offer.

I give this a decent 7/10
I am biased, because it has WW2 and the Russian speak Russians, not Russian accented English.

I thought I had reviewed this movie in this thread last week but apparently I haven't. So here goes.

A few weeks back, me and some friends after some drinking decided to play a game. One is the Game Master and plays songs on the laptop. The other guys have to guess the movie which the song is from.

My best mate, played this song. And the room went crazy. Forrest Gump? Saving Private Ryan? We guessed for about five minutes.

A movie we all had seen years ago and forgotten, so I decided to see it again.

Cast Away

On paper, this movie is dull and simple.

Robinson Crusoe but in the late 90's with Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt. It sounds so simple and typical.

But it isn't. Tom Hanks plays Chuck. A FedEx employee who works too much and often looks too much on his watch. Time is money.

During a Christmas dinner, Chuck must leave due to a new assignment in Asia.

He kisses his girlfriend, they swap Christmas gifts and also decide to get married when he gets back.

The plane crashes somewhere in the Pacific during a storm with Chuck being the only survivor.

I think many (if not all) here have seen this movie so I will tell/spoil no more, just in case.

Anyhow, great movie. Simple story but told in a way that every second is worth the time spent.

The ending is bitter but still full of joy somehow.

I never thought I would rewatch this movie 11 years after its release and see it in a whole new light.

Starship Troopers  (7/10)
A movie that at times, is so bad it's funny, but is a surprising metaphor for Fascism.

Zulu (9/10)
If I'm going to watch a movie about British imperialism, it's going to have Michael Caine in it, damn it!

The King's Speech

10/10

Colin Firth was amazing, simply amazing. I had tears in my eyes during his speech. It just was such a well done and well acted movie. Would watch it again.

Black Swan

9/10

People are mixed on this movie, but I loved it. The symbolism and the acting of Natalie Portman was top class. I'd have to recommend this one to everyone too

Robin Hood (2010; Russel Crowe)                     7/10

Entertaining enough. Some cool medieval action, quite much drama and too much politics in my eyes. If it will be a sequel i guess the politics are good for explanation, but if its not a sequel its meaningless. Even if i like the Robin Hood story, aswell as Russel Crowe is one of my favorite actors, this movie didnt score too high.
The last battle was kinda ridiculous, though entertaining in a funny way. The medieval version of Omaha Beach, completely similar in all ways, even with similar landingboats (though made of wood) and quite much the same scenes as SPR and other omaha movies. Though its still a movie worth to see. Its far from bad.

Max Manus
- Norwegian movie about the famous saboteur Max Manus and his story from World War II. I really like it, 3rd time around watching it since release and I'm still enjoying it. Great actors, compact storytelling and some good action.

And one thing Max Manus got that some movies can lack when it comes to Nazi's. They have no real evil bad guy as the nazi. Max Manus got this, played by Ken Duken. A man who will do anything to find the Norwegian saboteurs.

Worth the 2 hours for sure!
