Historical acuracy
« on: 04-12-2016, 11:12:23 »
Can the German flag of WW2 have a swastika? I know laws forbid the use of the swastika in all, BUR historical context. FH2 is supposed to be a historical game based on realism. Unless somebody is against  this, I see no reason why not to modify the German flag with a swastika for historical realism.
That other thread failed miserably and if you try to spam or flame here, I will break your arms.

Not possible, cause then Nazi fanboys will do nothing but sit on flagpoles saluting while listening to "Erica". We can't have that now can we?

He's being sarcastic.

The reason is that most of the devs live in nations like Germany where such things would be illegal, as games are not considered artistic works under German law.  Also, this forum itself is hosted in Germany.

Basically, it ain't gonna happen.  That said, I do believe there was an unaffiliated minimod long ago that did change the flags to their correct look.

They can`t track you down anyway. Even though Germany is rich their police doesn`t have unlimited resources.

It's kinda worthless to risk breaking the law for something so trivial.

It is a decision made years ago, it wont be reverted at this stage.

Such foolish thing to be ashamed. Yea, there`s a 0.00001% chance of getting caught but I get your point.

Yep, played the realism minimod which will give us the swastikas back in FH0.7, including those in Afrika Korps. Listened to people shouting "Heil Hitler!" turns out the player was looking at the swastika. It is a minor annoyance, but quite a pain in the arse for the server admin.

Well, SS runes are also forbidden stuff too.
