Ok, I can get the cleaning rod out, not a problem, I also know one of the caps for the barrel so the rod doesnt damage it...but what about the other pieces?

Yustax i have a very good book for you. It will let you know ANYTHING of your mosin nagant. it explains EVERY part down to the Screws, as well as every model existing, history and ofcourse=firing, cleaning, dissasembeling and troubleshooting

it REALLY is worth getting, BEST book of mosin you ever want, and in a handy size, so you can take it to the range


My advise regarding the ammo=USE glorious SOVIET or WARSAW PACT SURPLUS AMMO! NEVER FAILS! or Pvri, i have seen GREAT things with pvri ammo

Thanks for advice theta i wikl take it to heart. Which surplus rounds should i use for warsaw pact? Are romanians included in such pact? My mosin seemed to like it. Rounds were with a white tip and a red ring around it.

Warsaw Pact is all the soviet sphere nations, so yes, Romania is included.

I have no trouble with PRVI .303 in my SMLE, but Enfield is a sexy beast. Especially Lithgow Arsenal.

I've seen Millwrights use Electra Clean to strip cosmoline off turbine parts. One of the older guys said they used to use Kerosene before it got too regulated.

I strongly disadvise kerosene as a cosmoline remover.

Hell, or gas...people used it to remove the cosmoline in the wood.

Yea worked for a couple M38's i picked up that were caked in the stuff.

Ok, in the next following weeks I heated water with soap and cleaned the metal parts, the water came out dark brown so it was dipped in that goo, I greased em up and then get the stock into my car with trash bags and napkins, all the cosmo crap came out 3 days later, I wiped it off and reassemble it. Everything went nicely.

Went to the range today and fired 60 shots. No missfires, not a single jam. I bought light ball russian ammo in a can, 70 bucks, silver tip with red ring on the brass. It was a wonderful experience.

I fired at 200 yards, I will post the pics and a video soon!
