Rotating Weapons
« on: 24-10-2012, 23:10:25 »
I don't know if the BF2 engine will allow it do be done, but can it be made so that weapons in kits "rotate"?  Say one guy spawns with a rifle kit containing grenades, but the next guy has smoke grenades, or rifle grenades.  I know this was done in FHSW and i think in FH1 as well.  It was nice because it gave the kits more variety and you didn't always have the same old stuff.  I think this could become quite interesting if done, because you could have hundreds of variations on kits.  Just an idea.

We want our players to get what they click on. So no random kits in FH2, no.
It was very annoying to spawn with a rifle when you wanted SMG in FHSW, we tried it in FHT as well, not liked.

I'd say this kind of thing would work out better in the Warsaw minimod

Would be nice for Assault class SMGs, sometimes you get 50 round or 72 round drum mag and sometimes 20 or 30 round stick mag.

Judging by the amount of times in any given round I click on a kit repeatedly and still get the kit either directly above or below it on the spawn screen, I'd say we already have rotating kits in FH2 :D.

Maybe for a tanker kit, but those are on so few maps it's not worth the work required...
This sentence is intentionally left unfinished...

Think I recall on some maps the engineer class in FH1 would choose between Shotgun/Rifle. It was rather annoying in some cases.

Well the PPSH had first 2-3 drum mags per soldier wich was later supplanted by the stick magazines because these where easier to reload in the field (i am talking about inserting bullets in the magazine)

I think the 30 round mag could be given to the NCO and the assault to get the 50 round on the eastern front, just like for the Brits in Africa.

Im not saying rotate the kits completly, if you click on a rifle kit you still get a rifle, but you might get a different kind of grenade or maybe something extra like binocs or AP mine along with it.  It would jus give the players some more variety. Not every soldier in WW2 was exactly the same.  ::)

Was the case in FH1. Not sure if I recall the feedback. Anyone know?
That was as big a data pool as you could ever have.

I like the idea, just not sure what kit and where... Although WWII did this in certain cases, it might be appreciated in some instances like the grenade aspect, and less in others.

You can't alternate between SMG and rifles for instance - No way, no how. Bolt action vs. Semi- maybe...

But this is all theory. Yours is to convince the devs.
Currently, Natty thus far is not convinced.

It'd be better if we could just choose weapons, like how NCOs can choose between SMG and a rifle.

Speaking of which: on early war maps like Sidi Boud, can I haz option to use the M1903A3 Springfield as rifleman instead of M1 Garand?

I thought the bf2 engine didn't handle random too well?
