Not sure, i am from a diffrent region, mattentaart is also a product from east-flanders.

I say you take the time to travel to eastflanders, to geraardsbergen

As theta said, it's a product of east flanders, the area of geeraardsbergen. Buying a mattentaart in antwerp is like buying a Bordeaux wine made in the Provence. It can be a nice imitation, but it's not authentic

Allright I'll believe you and will make the holy grail quest to Geeraardsbergen. It seems they put something special in the water there that makes people bake super delicious mattentaarten. It better be for a two hour drive  :)

You can often buy them on the weekly markets in bigger cities throughout the country, go to Antwerp on market day and look for them.
