Gattacta
8/10
One of the best Sci-fi movies I've ever seen, with good moral and ethical points, but the ending was too artistic for my liking.
Ah, Gattaca. I agree, it's a great Scifi classic, which I found myself watching to understand all the references you see these days in discussions about stem cell research and the like. To my pleasant surprise it was an excellent movie.
Definitely a much more thoughtful movie than your average scifi.
As for my latest movie, that was HP6.
Now, Ive been a fan of Harry potter since about the time the third book came out, and have releigiously read most of the books multiple times. I say most, because I found the sixth book so lame I didnt bother to read seventh. Much of this has to do with my reading more adult books with much better characters and plots etc., meaning I've simply grown out of the series. But a significant portion was the actual book itself. I'm not gonna get into why I didnt like the book, just understand that I was going into the movie without much excitement.
The movie itself was well shot, with acceptable acting, and covered the main plot and some side stories as well as one would expect from 2.5 hours. Thats about it.
From the first movie it was clear that they would be nothing but highlight reels from the books, and this one faithfully continues this tradition. The CGI was pretty, and the action was as intense as you can expect from the Harry Potter universe...
5/10On a side note, am I the only one that was pining for some bloody and deadly attacks every time there was some fighting? Too much anime I suppose...
