Any Counter-Strike player knows the ‘tap’ rule – where the first 3 shots out of your barrel can be dealt-out with devastating accuracy (allowing for quick head shots). The mechanic appears to have been nerfed by Valve, making all the weapons in the game less accurate. Submachines are now ‘mid-distance alternatives’ and shotguns, of course, have been adapted to be even more punishing at close range.

The way CS accuracy and balance was made was that the only weapons anyone ever used was the AK, AWP, M4, and Desert Eagle. Everything else was a waste of time. The developers are referring to the 3 shot strafe that is the life line of any professional CS player, shoot 2/3 times move to the left/right. They want to change that aspect of the game play and make smgs more important. Rifles are nerfed to open up the use of more weapons.
Yeah, my first ever large LAN party last year was getting to use the computer bank in my engineering class. 30 computers, all playing CS:S! Good fun
