Seriously confused about FH & FH2
« on: 26-05-2009, 16:05:09 »
Ok, I need some help please.  There seem to be two mods out there, Forgotten Hope and Forgotten Hope 2.  Forgotten Hope is a mod used with battlefield 1942 and Forgotten Hope 2 is used with Battlefield 2, correct?

I have some questions:

1. Which is the mods have more vehicles to operate?
2. Which has better graphics?
3. Which mod has more people online to play against?
4. Which mod has the Panther tank?
5. Does Fogotten Hope 2 deal with just North Africa?
6. Lastly, which mod does everyone recommend?

Regards,
Gottberg

1. FH
2. FH2
3. FH2 (Afaik)
4. FH and soon FH2
5. For now it has North Africa and couple of cretan maps, but later it will get Normandy which is in development now.
6. FH2

Forgotten Hope 0.7 = BF1942
Forgotten Hope 2.15 = BF2

1. Currently that is FH1.
2. FH2
3. FH2
4. FH1 but in the next release FH2 will also have it.
5. Currently, yes, in future it will aim to feature all main theatres.
6. I recommend both, try them and judge yourself.

you can also play in Forgotten Honor Campaign, a community who organizes a campaign in Italy with good custom maps, gameplay improvements and new objects.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses.  I guess I'm leaning towards Battlefield 2 with the Forgotten Hope 2 mod.  I like tanking but it seems the Red Orchestra tank servers are dying a slow death.  I'm glad that the Normandy campaign is going to be introduced.

Anyone know a website where I can direct download Battlefield 2?

Regards..

You can dd Battlefield 2 with the EA downloader, but I would not recommend it, as it may result in conflicts with mods. Hence I'd recommend a good old DVD-version, if you want to be on the safe side.

The tanking of FH2 is way more epic then FH

Just sitting in a Sherman tank, and blowing up those Panzer III is so plain Exciting
Blowing up the flanks of a Panzer IV with a Crusader III on El alamein

Then ofcourse.........This joy is only lasting untill Normandy.......Then it is the joy of the cromwell and Panther tank :)

Do not download Battlefield 2.
You can not get it on Steam like RO and illegal downloads will get you banned with Punkbuster. Then there is the EA downloader but the downloadable version of BF2 has many bugs and problems with mods.

Order BF2 at a site like Amazon.co.uk for 5 to 10 euros.

Interesting, I noticed Battlefield 2 is for modern day warfare.  This is the one I want to order correct?  I see it's a whopping $8 on Amazon.com. ;D

That is correct, yes :)

If only BF2 had been WWII instead of modern warfare... granted it would not have been FH2 standards but it would have meant so much more content that could be reused would be available, like in FH for BF1942. This is the reason the Desert Campaign came first, by the way - some (though not much) of BF2's default content can be used in the mod.

Yes, normal Battlefield 2 is modern day combat, there are plenty of mods including Forgotten Hope 2.
If you want, I can make a list of popular/good mods for you.

Also when buying Battlefield 2: be sure you don't buy Battlefield: Modern Combat for the PS2. Buy Battlefield 2 for the PC. Just to be sure!
