Suggestions / Re: Forgotten Hope 2 Realism Mod?
« on: 25-12-2010, 02:12:55 »
There is no one stopping anyone to make a minimod for FH2 to prove the concept of 2 or 3-man tanks.
I've played mods for BF1942 and BF2 where several players have been required to fully operate a tank, I didn't like it because it didn't work. But anyone is free to prove me and all other nay-sayers that it would work better than one-man taks.

You can have hull gunner as it is already. You can have more than one person in a tank already. :)
All you get with separating the driver and main gunner into two different roles is added frustration.

As has been said before on these forums, 2+ man tanks are realistic from the perspective of the players in it, but decidedly unrealistic from the perspective of anyone outside the tank, as often times the two players manning the tank cannot properly communicate. The 1-player tanks represent the fact that tanks crews always act as a unit in real life.

This is exactly as how we have reasoned around tanks. Having separate driver and gunner works fine when there is decent communication between the two, but on public servers this is rarely the case. The tanks behave more realistically if there is one player taking care of everything. This is also more fun, creates less frustrating moments and gives room for more players on the battlefield.

Can someone say how the gameplay would be _better_ with 2-man tanks?
I don't understand this obsession with 2-man tanks, at all. There is nothing to gain by introducing it.

What source did Mare Nostrum have for these sights? They could be just as incorrect as our sights.

Much easier to just pick up some dead guy's kit if you run out of ammo.

You're not in a position to negotiate!

I'll work, if you guys make sure to populate the servers.  :)

Alam Halfa was indeed a rare treat! I wasn't even able to remember when I last played it.

I've experienced a round of Siege of Tobruk on a public server where the germans actually won! I wouldn't say the german team was superior to the allied one either, as the allied team managed to completely overrun us germans on the very next map.
The key is to take out the 2 pounders with artillery, which is a fairly easy task, and then at the same time concentrate all your efforts on ONE flag. It's not impossible at all to get a large part of your team to attack the same flag if you're a bit persuasive in team chat. Once you get hold of one or more flags, the odds even out.

I say keep on working!
Even if it turns out that your map isn't going to be used or played by anyone, it will at least be one heck of a learning experience. Besides, isn't modding about having fun while creating something?  :)

Indeed several awesome rounds. I was mostly impressed by how far we got as germans on Siege of Tobruk, even getting to the cap-zone of the last aussie flag, before someone sneak-capped an undefended german flag. And on top of that the round ended with only 8 tickets left for the winning team, how could a round like that not be a great one?  :)
