I think we should stop with this silly world wars one and two nonsense and just go back to calling them "The Great War" and "The World War", respectively. Right now both wars seem to be like some kind of sick book or movie idea."World War Two, the sequel to the award winning World War One! Bloodier! Louder! Faster! Genocidier! More communists! More bullets! And this time, its actually a world wide conflict! Premiers on September 1st in a Polish theatre near you!!!!"

The average Google visitor on the May 22nd spent 36 seconds playing Google Pac-Man. That's 4.8 MILLION HOURS wasted for that day. We've all seen the "doodles" that Google puts up on special occasions to replace the usual "Google" logo. On May 22, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Pac-Man, Google put up an interactive doodle: an actual playable Pac-Man game in the shape of the Google logo. The Rescue Time Blog calculated the difference between the amount of time the average user spends per day on Google and the amount of time the average user spent on Google on May 22, 2010. The average user spent 36 extra seconds on Google that day. Multiply that by 504,703,000 unique visitors and you get 4,819,352 hours of time spent playing Pac-Man around the world! Assuming that the average Google user is worth about $25/hour, Google cost the world about $120,483,800 in wasted time. That's enough money to pay the salary of every Google employee for 6 weeks of work!
If you type "James Bond" into Google Translate and have it translated to Standard Chinese, it will translate to "007".
The house where Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence was replaced with a hamburger stand. Jefferson wrote the Declaration in the Graff House in Philadelphia. The building was torn down in 1884 and replaced with a bank. The bank was demolished in the 20th century. In its place was a new building, a hamburger stand, with a historical marker on the front explaining the significance of the site.
A penny is worth 1 cent but it costs more than that to make it. The value of the materials used to make pennies (97.5% zinc, and only 2.5% copper) often fluctuate. The cost of zinc went up, so the cost to produce a penny went up from .97 cents in 2005 to 1.7 cents in 2007. Since the materials in pennies cost more than pennies themselves, you might want to try melting your pennies down and selling the metal for a profit. Of course, if you do this, you could find yourself spending 5 years in prison.
The "turritopsis nutricula" can LIVE FOREVER. It's also known as the "immortal" jellyfish. In a normal jellyfish life cycle, the jellyfish will transform from an immature polyp stage to a sexually mature medusa stage. After reproducing, the jellyfish will die. However, the turritopsis nutricula can revert back to its polyp stage after achieving maturity. In laboratories, the turritopsis nutricula has been able to continue doing this indefinitely. This would be like an adult human turning back into a little kid, then growing up again, over and over again. The turritopsis nutricula can't die of old age, so it earns the title of "immortal". Of course, unlike the normal definition of immortal, the "immortal jellyfish" can still be eaten or die from natural causes.
The "57" on the Heinz bottles doesn't stand for anything. Henry John Heinz wanted to impress people with the number of products his company sold. At the time, Heinz foods sold more than 60 varieties of products, Heinz liked the number 57 and had "57 Varieties" put on the labels. His lucky number was 5, and his wife's was 7. The "57 Varieties" slogan worked, and his company really took off. Soon the logo, a pickle with the number 57 on it, was everywhere. I guess the number really was lucky.
SEVEN different people played Darth Vader. Darth Vader's famous deep voice was done by James Earl Jones, the same actor who did the voice of Mufasa in the Lion King. The Darth Vader that we actually saw on screen was David Prowse, an actor and bodybuilder. Interesting side note: since James Earl Jones was the one saying Darth Vader's lines, David Prowse didn't even realize that Darth Vader was Luke Skywalker's father until he saw the movie! Many of Darth Vader's stunts, like the lightsaber duels, were done by Bob Anderson, a professional fencer. And then, when Luke takes off Vader's helmet in Return of the Jedi there's ANOTHER actor playing Darth Vader, Sebastian Shaw. But we're not done yet. When George Lucas re-released the original Star Wars trilogy he had to shoot extra scenes with Darth Vader, this time with actor and visual effects artist C. Andrew Nelson. Then, when Lucas released a prequel trilogy, he hired two more actors, Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christiansen, to play young Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader's alter ego. That's SEVEN DIFFERENT DARTH VADERS. Here's what Darth Vader sounds like without the voice-over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSm9DDxQv8E
Lightning is 5 times hotter than the sun. Lighting can reach temperatures of 30,000 kelvins (53,540 degrees Fahrenheit). Compare that to the surface of the sun, 6,000 kelvins (10,340 degrees Fahrenheit)
