So yeah, finally started watching Boardwalk Empire. Did 2 episodes last night. Enjoyable, if not quite yet convinced it's that good (see my run ins with TheTA among others in this thread ;) ) but seems solid enough to stick with for a couple of seasons. Will report back in when I'm further along.

I wasnt sold by two episodes of the first season either. By third I was already convinced I had to keep watching if it stays as good and it has only improved all the time. My favorite TV-show of all time.

Seriously if this series doesn't grow on you and become an all time favourite then we need to re-engineer your Movie-DNA, because something went haywire  ;D

Obtained the first episode of "The Americans" and will watch it tomorrow. The series tells the story of two KGB agents being "undercover" in the 1980s USA. Plots sounds interesting and quite fresh. Here´s the trailer:

Also, the History channel will start a series on the saga of the historical figure of Ragnar Lothbrik and his family. Hopefully they won´t mess it up, since I´m quite interested in that particular era. The trailer and intro do look nice, though:

And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.

I'm sure aliens will be involved though ...

Apparently the History Channel only hosts the show, but didn´t produce it, so there´s some hope we won´t see any alien-illuminati-BS. :D

Anyway, just finished the first episode of "The Americans" and actually quite liked it. The mix of Cold-War-Spy/suburban-life worked pretty good and the show offers enough potential to become an entertaining on-going thing. My recommendations!

I have been watching Twin Peaks the past few weeks. It has been a long time since I last watched it, it must have been mid- to late 90's.

It is one of the most brilliant thing ever created for television. The random improvised bit left in the finalversion are just brilliant.

And the amount of stuff that Alan Wake borrows from Twin Peaks is incredible. Remedy did a great job there.

There is that TV series running in Quebec that is quite good, it recenty had an episode with a 14min long sequence (no cuts) that involves a school shooting, it's really good.

You can see it here, it starts at the 10 minute marks.

When asked for your age, pick the left button to say you're over 16.

Of course it's in french canadian but the thing is about the shooting and the great cinegraphy.

19-2 Saison 2 / ?pisode 1 - TOU.TV

First cut at 22:15 then the scene goes on with normal cuts and stuff.

Btw this was filmed before the Connecticut shooting, as you can see there's no snow  :P

I am all about watching "fosse aux lionnes" and "dieu crea laflaque".
A good friend of mine doesn't speak French but he is religious about laflaque,  It makes me chuckle but he likes the cartoon.

i don't get 19-2 but i will check it out online.
My Quebec includes Canada

I just can´t get myself to learn today, so I watched the first episode of House of Cards, a political drama series, starring Kevin Spacey as power-hungry congress man who, after he´s been denied a promised career as Secretary of State, wants revenge and uses all necessary and possible means to claim his power.
The first episode was pretty good, especially Spacey is awesome as ruthless politician. Acting in general is great, the story is interesting and since I´m into politics, the first episode got me hooked for more.

So far this year has been pretty nice, when it comes to TV shows: House of Cards, Spartacus, the up-coming Vikings tv show, The Americans and the up-coming GoT season 3 will keep me more than busy! Fortunately the winter semester will be over in ~2 weeks, so I should have more than enough time! :D

Hoo boy the end of Breaking Bad Season 4 sure kept me at the edge of my seat.  Gus is one of the most well played villains I've seen.
