What is the meaning of your ingame name?
« on: 30-07-2012, 10:07:05 »
Hello everyone,
as there are alot of you playing with a unique ingame name whose meaning I don't recognize, I would like you to explain your name and tell it's story, e.g. how you found it.

ZooMotorPool is the nickname of German army's motorpool, due to them being named mostly from animals.

e.g.
Tiger = the big cat,
Koenigstiger = Bengal tiger, the big cat from India,
Marder = marten, the cute ferret/badger like Mustelidae,
Panther = that big mountain cat,
Nashorn = rhinoceros
Elefant = where the english word comes from

Some are insects:
Wespe = wasp
Hummel = bumblebee

That's more creative than mine: Nighthawk for the F117 and |7th| as a fixed clan a friend of mine and I created in CoD4 when we were really bored.

Well, my ingame name isn't my forum name anymore, so I'll explain both:

Mud Buddha is from a Hong Kong wuxia flick called Stormriders. I think I used it first when BF1942 came out. I had just watched that movie and needed a nickname for the game. I kinda liked the sound of the two words together and stuck with it ever since, for all my games.

Up untill last fall's 2.4 update, when after a windows re-install I fucked up my BF2 login and I couldn't retrieve my password anymore. So I changed my name to DarklyDreamingDexter, the title of the book the TV show Dexter is based on, which is a bit of a personal favorite so it seemed a fitting name.
FH2 is the game, DarklyDreamingDexter is the name.

th_battleaxe

th are my initials, slight personal touch

battleaxe, used to mean my favorite map on bf 1942, but over time it changed. After a berserk Rambo charge on DH, the 2 last bullets in my Garand each ended up in a german and the remaining 3 were stabbed (bear in mind, this was under smoke so I had no vis whatsoever), it became a sort of 'lucky charm', like the double axe of Cnossos.

Mine is easy, this is the homepage of the great news site DLF/DRADIO and the Reporter just came naturally, as I fancied being a war-correspondent in the old days of BF42. ^^

Maybe interesting: Do you use different names in other games (no need to mention them, just curious who is actually recognizable in other games ;) )

EDIT: I personally always use this name and it was always possible to use it by now in every game

Uh oh.

Well, this name dates back to 2002 (I think). I was 11 then and runescape was the thing at that time in my school and this was my first rune characters name. I found it was good nick as no one has ever used it in history of internet, so it's never in use on any website/game.

What it actually means:
ajappat -> tappaja -> killer (in english).

Kind of lame but hey, better than killer19503 or tappaja352092 or random23045265734934573465890043555555555. I think you get the idea  ;D

Edit: Yep, this name on every game.

Thorondor

All the definite 'sightings' of Thorondor take place during the First Age. We first encounter him helping Fingon rescue Maedhros from Thangorodrim when the Age had hardly begun, and he survived at least long enough to take part in the War of Wrath at the end of the Age.

Thorondor was indeed mentioned in THE BOOK. THE BOOK! I'll eat your head for that.

He had much larger role in Tolkien's magnum opus, The Silmarillion.

Read "The Silmarillion" before you ever dare to post again! Come back when you've done that!

hslan.grim:

hslan: FH clan I joined when I started to play FH2 ;)
Grim: Short for VF-101GrimReaper (which I use recently in games exept fh :) ). Which comes from the name of a Fleet Replacement Squadron of the United States Navy, the VF-101 Grim Reapers.

But why that squadron? Well because it has both my favorite ''mythical'' creature the Grim Reaper and because it was also used as a training squadron that flew my favorite plane the F-14 Tomcat and my favorite WWII plane the F4U corsair (besides the spitfire).

My most used name in older games is Crucher though. Used from 1942 and so on until I started to play FH.
Crucher comes from Crusher when I thought you spelled it with a C :-[

Good threat btw, always liked nicknames and the history/idea behind it.
