Hello! Welcome to the FH2 community. To be precise, it's arrow up to open the LCVP dropdoors. It might be illogical in the first use, but you will get use to it ;)

By themselves. no. Their purpose is partly redundant. They were originally intended as a marker for friendly mines.

A mine marker excused you if a friendly drove over a mine you place them by. And you could be sneaky and use them to make enemy believe mines exist in an area, and thus would avoid them.

However, since about an update or two ago, the devs made the skull and crossbows appear automatically (As opposed to using the shortcut key to put on notifications), so their use has diminished somewhat.

Although for the life of me, I can't understand why people still run into skull and crossbow areas and kill themselves.

One would think the convention crossed beyond video games.

Of course the problem with the mine markers is that they dont appear if you joined the game after the mines were laid.  They are also buggy at some angles like when you S-mine the stairs in buildings.  Personally I would prefer removing the scull and bones markers and putting flags or appropriate signs in both the AP and AT mine kits.  I could be wrong but I think AP mined areas at least had warnings with the idea of slowing and diverting the enemy rather than trying to get a cheap kill.  I suppose AT mines were more used in ambushes.  Flags and signs give you options.  I'm probably the only one who has this opinion.

As with halftrack shields it makes sense when visualised as arrow forward dropping down and back raising up.

You should try the arrow keys on different vehicles, assets and deployables. ;)

for example:
- It raises/lowers the hatch of almost every transport/ammo truck
- raises/lowers the canopy of the jeep
- raises/lowers the propeller of the Schwimmwagen
- raises/lowers the tripod of the Mg42-Tripod

Actually, there's still one very good use for mine markers. Yesterday I found enemy AP mine placed on a hole in the wall. It was in good place, and someone would certainly have run over it, but I marked it with mine marker  ;)

Edit: And just as I wrote this, it occured to me that wrench can remove mines right? I guess mine marker is still faster option in hurry.

By the way the up and down arrow keys are not just for LCVP but for most vehicles, you can lower a shield on an halftrack (that will save you from light arms fire) or cover up your jeep to protect you from the rain or even open the firing platform on your AAA truck.  8)

Note the propeller does not add propulsion.

Where is an example of the "Mg42-Tripod" that can be raised/lowered? The deployable Lafette does not have this ability.
