I think i won't be happy to be on the recieving end of these. Not much of artyman myself, but they look amazing.

You know what they say, there are two kinds of people: Fellow artillerymen and targets.

has it yet decided, how the range of the 120 mm mortar will be compared to other Artillery weapons? Somewhere between 81 mm mortars and the typical field artillery guns?

It will be very challenging to the Germans to defeat the Russians since they have so much equipment that is faster and has more firepower than the German ones. Sure there are some true gems for the Germans too but it seems there's more for the Russians what comes to artillery, small arms, armor and vehicles. Just compare the calibres, firing ranges and speed.

Speaking of the topic I was comparing the German and the Russian mortars and the Russian one beats the German one without a doubt by its higher calibre and also firing range (5700m). Unless there's going to GrW 42 to make it more balanced for the German team.

The 81 mm Mortar has a different role anyway. But as the GrW42 was a direct copy of the russian one anyway, I am sure it can be implemented very fast. It just needs a different skin and different sights, if there are different for the artillery guns anyway.

Wow, been using these mortar heavy hitters in COH2. Don't know if the artillery is the same piece ... The one the crew can only spin around and not move in coh2. Anyway it will be amazing to use these in FH. THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING !!!

I just found out that the Russians actually copied it from the French pre-WW2 "120mm mortier Brandt mle 1935" through commercial agreements via a Finnish company.
The main difference seems to be the base plate.

pulled by a renault UE :

The Germans copied it from the Russians because they realized the potential of this weapon on the eastern front.

The same company created the famous 81mm mortar used by the Americans and French in ww2.

I know Brandt sounds German but it's not :
