Bf2 Problem, windows 7

I have just recently installed windows 7 ultimate on my laptop.

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor 2.53GHZ
4GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800M GS External 512MB GDDR3 VRAM
Dual HDD:500G(250Gx2),5400rpm
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I used to have windows vista ultimate 64bit installed, and had no troubles with BF2 when of course in compatibility mode xp sp2 and run as administrator checked.

But now i can install Bf2 and it runs(1.0 or 1.1 when i install Special forces), but when i try to patch it to 1.41 or 1.5 the patch setup up begins, then i get a message saying patching failed, then goes back to the setup wizard and says patching complete. i run the game then, i get the splash screen, and then a black screen, then back to desktop with no message whatsoever.

I do not know what to do. Anyone encountered this problem before? any fixes/ ideas.

Could it be Nvidea drivers, cause i only got the drivers for windows 7 off my laptops retailers site.

I need to get this problem resolved so i can play FH2 once again.

trouble shoot with compatability to win7 and admin rights, it works fin for me after i learned for 1.5 you need 1.41 :P

As far as I know, you need to install 1.41 and then 1.5. It's an incremental patch.
Have you tried deactivating that UAC for win7?

The very first thing I did in Windows 7 was deactivate all that nanny bs. And was very pleased to see it could be done with two clicks once the UAC window popped up.

Well i got it working, i did disable UAC, downloaded the latest nvidea drivers and ran it in compatibility mode. So some combination of that fixed it.
