M10 death trap
« on: 17-04-2009, 01:04:56 »
hey i have a question about the M10 in game. are you going to make it possible for enemy infantry to kill the driver through the open turrent, as that is were the commander would be placed or will we not be able to through a grenade and wipe out half the crew (even if its a one man crew)? (p.s if im posting in the wrong section tell me.)
:) WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.............its hell>>>>>>>>deal with it :)

It'll should be open, same as the Marder is ingame now.

When you're driving it, I assume your player model will sit in the turret acting as the commander.  So if you stay still too long, someone may just snipe you out sdkfz222 style.

It'll should be open, same as the Marder is ingame now.
Except that the gunner in the marder needs to be sitting with the gun rather than down in the hull as he currently is.

Yes it is open. But don't worry, we've beta tested it thoroughly, its very hard to kill the driver. However, stay away from church towers if you're using it. Commander sits nicely down inside the turret (unlike m36 jackson in FH1).

Bottom line is, the enemy will need a major height advantage in order to snipe you. If you're in an open field you have nothing to worry about, just as safe as any other tank. Trust us on this one.

But you can still play grenade basketball with it though.  Have any betatesters managed that?

I dunno about scoring, but it would be hard to get everyone to line up for the free throw.

Glad to hear the only common American tank-killer has some protection from roving infantry. :)

on mareth line, I threw a grenade at a mobile pak, it noobishly overshot but richoched off the large rocks to the right of mareth into the open marder turret, the guy inside got so splash damaged he jumped out, in my haste to type "woot lmao" he shot me, but as they say it's "game on!"

That was pretty common and easy to do with the Jackson in FH1.

Yeah, but in the M36...you were asking for it.

Couldn't have been an easier target if you tried. :|

Don't your legs stick out if you try to hide in the turret?

Excusio me for asking, but what will the Ammo layout be for the M10??

As i see on wikipedia, their are these possible ammo types

AP
HE
APCBC
HVAP(But this was Late war)
APHE(Simply HEAT)

An intresting thing i found, was that appearntly, the M10 fired more HE shells then AP shells.

U.S. tank destroyers fired many more high-explosive shells than anti-tank ammunition, indicating that they were employed much like the tanks they were supposed to support.[citation needed]

The "citation needed" in the end means that there is no source to back that statement up, which means it might as well have been made up by some random guy.
