Currently the recoil system for the MP40, Sten and Thompson. I understand, that nobody wants to see a run and gun spammer. However, right now it's completely ridiculous that I cant fire 3 shots without that my weapon flies 1 meter off target. And instead I need to fire bullet by bullet into a target from 30 meters. So can you please tone the smg recoil a bit?

Regarding pistols; it's completely the same. There's exagerated recoil, you fire two shots, and you're at the mercy of your target, since you'll completely miss because of the recoil in the heat of close range shooting and you'll get killed the majority of times.

So please; lower the recoil in smg's and pistols.

Thoughts opinions?

As you can see, both actually have comparable Recoil but it is much less then the ingame recoil
(dont mind american bias gunny, its just an example)

Recoil is very low atm. Personally i find it to be perfect.SMGs and handguns (apart from Webley  :-X) are my favorite weapons in the game. They are very effective at close to medium distance, right where they should be. Learn to control the recoil, and you'll love them SMGs.(I'd take SMG over bolt action rifle any day)

No need to lower the recoil whatsoever.

At the begining I found that the recoil was quite high, now I'm habituated and I found it okay. For short ranges the recoil is not a problem, at medium ranges it starts to be harder to control the SMG to hit the target in full-auto, at this moment you should swith in semi-auto to take shot by shot. But don't think that you can be really effective in medium ranges, those weapons are made for CQB, mediums ranges are for the STG-44 and M1Carbine

C'mon. See a vid of an MP40 in youtube. Guys can control full auto, even from hip. In game? You shoot 3 or 4 shots, and it's completely off target.

It's called recoil control people... You have a mouse... Use it. I like this game cause you actually have to learn to control you weapon... Not like in CoD where I can spam full auto on people and still hit them on ridiculous ranges (yes I am exaggerating a bit there...)


However my casual "me" would like to have mindless shooting sometimes... and wishes to see the recoil toned down...

When you shoot a weapon in Fh2 without moving the mouse, think of it as shooting while holding the weapon losely in your arms, without leaning into it or countering the recoil at all.

Quick, 3-4 round, controlled bursts and they are quite effective ;). The hardest part is to find the proper speed of pulling the mouse down to compensate for recoil.

I love to shoot enemies even from longer ranges with mp40, by just shooting whole magazine at them, mostly I hit more or less. Reacoil is VERY easy to control for all smg's but thompson imho.

Then after shooting a rifle you should be prone and looking at the sky, if you can still get up with your rather batthered shoulder.

I think the recoil of the SMG's is ok atm. Sometimes I get sniped with the MP40 and Thompson over ridiculous ranges in situations, in wich I would have problems to fire with the rifle that accurate and fast. The only thing that bothers me, that we don't realy have a good suppression effect ingame. I am not a PR fanboy or something like this, but in PR (or let it be Darkest Hour mod for RO1) you notice when you are under fire. You haven't got the possibility there to turn around and snap out a guy with your rifle who is shooting at you from behind with a SMG. Same for MG's like the MG42. Why doen't we make the blury effect more intensive to give SMG's and MG's in CQC a real superior role. Sorry for OT but I think it fits a bit to the problem. At the end you will have to learn how to compansate the recoil with your mouse but it is annoying that you still have to fear an enemy when firing in his back with an SMG at close range.

also: I hope missing suppresing effect (for some video cards) and good old bullet crack sound will be back in 2.45. It's good to know when you're under fire  ;)

I don't know the suppression effect of 2.0, because I play since 2.15. But atm. it is like "is there someone knocking on the door???" when you are under heavy fire of an MG42. I would like to see an effect, wich makes you instantly hit the dirt and look for cover.

that's because you use ingame anti aliasing instead of the the new graphic card one.

recoil is okay on SMG, but some are able to shoot in full auto quite far with great precision sometimes, wich I found a bit wierd. For pistols and revolvers, I ain't use them enough to really notice the recoil, all I know is that pistols lack stopping power, wich is normal, who wants 1shot pistols.

lol, no. It works only without any anti aliasing at all (and it is not only my problem, afaik it is some video cards issue) and where is bullet crack? As there were topics about that already - let's back on topic, now

yes, both in-game and the graphic card AA on my HD5770 disable suppresion effects... which sucks but something I'll have to live with till I buy a new card (6950) - will let know if anything changes. also there's a simple solution to the bullet crack issue, actually - someone fudged up the BULLET FLYBY paragraph in ImpactSounds.con (common_server.zip\Material). so if you increase the soundRadius, halfVolumeDistance and volume by a little bit, you should be able to hear the bullet crack (that's what I did and it worked).

on topic: the recoil on SMGs and pistols is okay(ish), I wouldn't lower it (not drastically anyway) - the bigger issue is how far some weapons are from screen (see Archimonday's utube channel), and it's more of a visual issue (having the pistol 5 cm in front of my eyes just does look weird, I'm sorry :P)

I'd like it toned down a bit, but not to the point where it's CoD. I hate it when I fire the thompson , and 2 shots later I'm a yard off. even when I try to compensate for the recoil, it never seems to work well. I'm more of a rifle person, though, so what would I know?

From what I've heard, the Thompson's 45 ACP is balanced out by the weight of the gun.

BTW, you shouldn't be shooting short range assault/last resort weapons at anything further than 200m. Especially pistols.
