Wodka and orange juice...

Yes I have become very acquainted with this combo.

The only rum you ever want

Yes this is accurate, Capt Morgan it what I had this past weekend and it was great. It was also what I mixed into the grape soda.

Are ciders and long drinks a thing in the US?
I would find it very very odd if long drinks were a thing outside Finland, Tallinn harbour, and some hipster clubs in Berlin that purportedly have them on sale there.

Non-alcoholic question: Do you guys have any recommendations for books/articles/scientific journals on armour and armour penetration? I'm planning on doing my Bachelor's thesis on armour penetration mechanics and I expect that some of you guys to know some good books on the subject.
Don't have the source at hand, but just read an interesting article how APFSDS (possibly the upper-end HVAP ammo too) shells travel so fast that the slant of the armour is next to insignificant: upon contact they treat the armour as if they were hitting water (or other liquid), and are deflected towards the path of least resistance - as if they had hit the plate at right angle or nearly so - resuming the original trajectory after penetration. Also the amount of ricochets caused by the slanted armour becomes negligible if the shell velocity is high enough. Think of a ray of light hitting a window: it refracts towards the normal and then continues on a parallel path to the original.

Of course, then you come to the realization that if you put 100mm armour at 45 degree angle, it's equivalent to 141 mm of armour, but surprise surprise, the height and thus the weight of the armour plate is now 1,41 times the height of a 100 mm vertical plate - or equal to a vertical plate of 141 mm thickness. Except that you just probably made your tank a bigger target, and it's still only 100 mm equivalent against kinetic penetrators.

So slanted armour is only really relevant against HEAT warheads anymore, unless we're talking really thin armour, as in armoured cars, APC's, or IFV's (which day by day are getting thicker) who might actually be penetrated by something that is slow enough not to "refract" upon impact.

EDIT: Now I'm actually intrigued whether this would concern HEAT warheads too, ie. whether the particles riding the blast wave would behave the same way. At least the "jet" is moving fast enough, much faster than the fastest kinetic round.

No no no. Never mix Jägermeister with anything (don't do it in shots either). Pour half a glass and then just sip it with the rate that suits you (i.e. don't get insta-hammered). Same with Whiskey, never mix it with water or ice. If you need it cold, use iced stones.

Just tried this last new year eve, undiluted Jaeger in glass. Yes, it is great. Like I said, it has all cough syrup greatness with strong alcohol taste.

Australia is the country that introduced me to Rum (and their British kinds like Grog). So, Bundaberg is my first taste, never tried Capt. Morgan though.

Anyway, just read that Champagne = sparkling wine made in certain place in France. Same goes to Cognac, being Brandy. LEL. Yourop elitism at its worst.

Sounds like an interesting topic to me. I just did a five minute research on "armo(u)r penetration" via scholar.google.com and I already found a good number of articles from scientific journals starting in the 40s up to today. Most of them should be available through your universitiy's library (atleast they are through mine). I also found an open access journal called: Journal of impact Engineering.

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/0734743X

You may also should try some research via databases available via your university library, but scholar.google.com is usually a good starting point.

Ofcourse, you should also narrow down the scope and title of your Bachelor's thesis, because "armor penetration mechanics" might be too much for a Bachelor's thesis. But all depends on how you plan to do it.

Out of curiosity: What do you study? Something in Engineering?

Zoo, it's not just alcohols. There's whole lot of other traditional foods that are restricted to area for the name and elsewhere you gotta go around with the name. Like Feta is only Feta if from Greece, others have to call it 'Greek salad cheese' or something like that.

Indeed, that's the whole point of the A.O.C. laws, to retain the originality of a local product. It's not just  to limit the use of its name, but also to keep the quality high.

We are just starting to do our theses and currently the subject is just a general direction. Once I've been assigned to a tutor, I'll discuss what the more specific subject will be. I'll probably focus on just the traditional kinetic penetrator vs. armor plate and what phenomena and behaviour models are present. Then again, with 20-30 pages of text, I might have to expand it.

And I study mechanical engineering. I'm majoring in machine construction and minoring in materials.

Now come to think of it, you guys are right.

We have this regional dish from West Sumatra called Rendang. A lot of tourists love it so much that it tops 100 global foods in CNN Travel blog. The Malaysian also have their own Rendang, mainly from the West Sumatra migrants that moved there years ago. But theirs are different, and the lack of charred coconut taste makes them not that much different to ordinary beef curry cooked with coconut milk. It is second-rate compared to the original one.

I guess we need to apply some A.O.C stuff.

I used to drive around my neighbourhood in highschool, blasting that song with the windows rolled down.  I'm cringing to think about it.  Still like the song though

Consume everything in one go. Especially if you have multiple tins.
