Inspiration Thread
« on: 04-04-2009, 22:04:23 »
Ok I got some very nice tutorials from Torenico and I've come to the conclusion it's not that hard after all. Though I still got alot of chapters to go and still need to find out how the FH2 section will start, I'm thinking about some ideas for an FH2 map.

Do you guys have any inspiration for me? I would love to do a historical map and then I would love infantry based maps the most. For teams, got no clue yet.

Oh I did got a fictional map in mind, something going in the direction of Tunis but very different. Main flags where the fighting will be will consist of city gates, so it's an old medieval city, with alot of alleys and marketsquared and places to hide and snipe. Bloody Gates just jumped in my mind as a name. Ooh this is going somewhere!

Still I would like to do a historical map. Anyone got something Africa/Mediterranean for me? Some sort of situation map or pictures with it would be really handy :P

There must be some. Like Tunis. I'm sure I can base a fictional map on Tunis.

I don't think there was much of a fight in Tunis tbh. But about the medieval fortress thing:

Australian Troops in Sidon, Lebanon. Of course you'd need Vichy French for that... but WaW for example had a Lebanon map where the germans used french voices and flags, you could do something like that.

I bet the custom maps will fall out of the sky once Normandy is released  :D, I would like to see some more SAS raids map in North Africa, or Allied Airborne operations. Are there going to be any maps with Yanks in North Africa?

Thanks guys. Hawkeye made me think with his SAS suggestion. I really like the idea of it. Maybe ala Operation Hyacinth at daylight with Sahariana's? That would be something special.

Also I found this: a bit like Bir Hakeim without real heavy defences and equipment. A Jewish company defending against Italians and Germans.

I think I may have a map of that engagement in WinSpWW2 (old pc-game). I could try to screenshot it if you want.

Meh
Found the map in the game, but it's pretty scaled down and inaccurate and focuses more on Bir Hacheim. If you want city fighting you could do something in Sicily. The statics and vegetation are all there.

Oooh that got me Azreal! More Italians so mixed team with 2 British kits and others Italian, like on Sidi Rezegh. Since there where way more Italians we'll use Italian voices I guess.
The battle itself looks really interesting.

Found a map of Kos but I'm now really curious where the exact fighting was.

 8) , I remember that I played an Operation Hyacinth map where the British had to destroy several planes and two tanks... Was that a co-op version or something? And is it possible to get these mission objectives in more maps (in conquest mode)? So if the German equipment is destroyed they lose their spawn there...

To be honest I would keep the SAS raid maps at dawn or night... that adds the raid feeling to the map

Night maps are disliked so I rather keep it daylight. Sahariana raids (Italian SAS) where done at all times so I'll keep that in the backspace of my head for later.
Battle of Kos it is.  :)
Just need maps etc., where the fighting was, name it.
