Forgotten hope 0.7 installer
« on: 07-10-2010, 07:10:08 »
Hi. I have a problem getting the installer running for FH 1. When I click on installer # 1 I get a message window about needing BF42 patch 1.06.101 installed in order for the mod to work correctly which I do but then when I click OK it closes and nothing happens. The installer doesn't run at all? Thanks.

Are you trying to run it in Win7? If so, then try executing the installer using the Windows 98 compatibility modus.

Yes, I am running it in Win 7. How do I do this?

OK... got the installers working using UTorrent for downloading but now when I play a random FH map either in single player or Coop online it crashes during loading and it does this on all the maps? How do I fix this? Thanks.

Iirc you still need to start FH0.7 in admin mode, which you can do by going to the preferences on the link and then choosing "run as admin".
Other than that you have to disable punkbuster since it doesn't support the Win98 compatibility (same procedure as with admin mode) uder win7.
Also be sure NOT to install BF42/FH0.7 in the program files/ folder (both x86 and the normal one should you use a 64bit version of win7)  as win7 is a bit tricky with files being changed in that folder.
Deactivating you user access control in Win7 also helps.

I got it working as you said I had to disable Punk Buster which was activated by default to run in Win 98 Mode. Its a shame you have to go through all the loop holes to get this to run. I know it's a old Mod for the BF1942 but at least I got it running. Not sure how to deactivate my user access control in Win7? And is this the same procedure for running the Forgotten Honor expansion Mod as well? I would like to play that also.

For an instruction on deactivating the user access control just google win7 uac.
I would guess that it is the same procedure for the F|H mod since it is a minimod of FH0.7.
