General Discussion / Camouflage
« on: 01-03-2013, 01:03:02 »
I feel like one weak area of the mod is camouflage.  I feel like tanks and guns stike out like sore thumbs, now I know that part of that is just the engine itself.  But i feel like this could be helped if tanks and guns had 'brush' either applied to them or placed around them.

(yes i know the tank here is being hidden while not is use, but you get the idea.)

General Discussion / Straight Pull rifles
« on: 21-02-2013, 01:02:06 »
I was wondering is any of these style guns were used in WW2?  I've found that Hungary and the Swiss made versions of this style rifle. Naturally we don't have Hungary in the mod (yet  ::)) and the swiss didn't fight in the war.  Did any nation other than these two use or have this type of rifle during the war and if so could we maybe someday see a model of it?  I just find them to be an interesting rifle with their own unique action.

Suggestions / 3.7cm Stielgrante 41
« on: 11-02-2013, 20:02:29 »
I remembered seeing this in BoB and thought it looked pretty cool.  I looked it up and found it was used in the eastern front.  Thought it might be an easy way to give the battlefields a new twist, since these guns are smaller and easier to hide than the pak 40's and it might be more realistic than giving the germans to many pak 40's.

Would also be nice to have guns and tanks camoflaged like this. ^ ::)

General Discussion / VOIP

So ive been reading about 762 having a new Mumble version, i have yet to try it, mainly because not many are using it and i dont play on 762 that often.  Communication is a big draw back in this game, since you can only talk to your squad and typing is slow.  I got to thinking though and i remembered that as a SL pushing V would let you talk to the commander.  Is there anyway that someone could recode this to be a way to just talk to anyone?  B would still talk to your squad, but V would allow you to talk to anyone within in listening range.  If this works it should work well as everyone who plays will already have this function without haveing to download a 3rd party source to communicate with commrades.  Any thoughts?

Bug Reporting / Marder I 39H
« on: 26-01-2013, 19:01:55 »
This really isn't a bug, more of an annoyance.  In the marder I can't ever see whats goin on around me. It feels like the camera sits to low in the turret.  Could it be raised up alittle so I can see the pesky infrantry running around me.  :-\

Suggestions / Artillery Battery
« on: 22-01-2013, 22:01:50 »
In WW2 arty was used throughout the war to blast away enemy enplacements.  It could have a huge effect on a battle, I feel that this effect is not present in FH2, due to the limited number of artillery pieces.  Now I don't think we should just add a bunch of new guns, because that will take away more players.  I suggest that we allow one person to control roughly 3 guns.  This will allow arty to lay down a more effective barrage to cover advancing troops.  This would be very helpful in African maps were one team is assaulting heavfully defended positions, on maps such as Mareth line and Tobruk.  It could also work on other maps from other fronts.  This was used in Battlegroup42 and Battlefield 1918 and I thought it was very effective.  Heres a vid --->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9naCUNcPOw

Suggestions / Carcano M91 Carbine
« on: 20-01-2013, 18:01:12 »
I think this would be a nice addition for the italians.  Could be used in the engineer kit, similar to the Americans M1.  The image is of a Cavalry Carbine, but they made a few different verions. Some in 6.5 others 7.35.  My uncle has one, i havent shot it yet, but I like the look and feel of the rifle.
Other close ups here ---->

Suggestions / Anti-Aircraft Weapons
« on: 05-01-2013, 23:01:19 »
I have a question first. Why were most of the british anti-aircraft weapons replaced with italian ones?  I would rather see the vickers machine gun.  Something like this.

And then for Russia, I think this would be a nice addition.

Couldnt find one of just the gun.  But the truck would be nice too.  ;D

Suggestions / Deployable Air Strikes
« on: 24-12-2012, 01:12:21 »
So I was playing Ramelle today, and i never new that the P51s would actually bomb germans within their flight path.  :o So i was wondering if a kit could be made to call air strikes?  It would be similar to the kit in FH1, you have some binoculars, and you call the strike.  The plans fly in the direction your pointing, at a set height and bomb (or possibly strafe) the first enemy target they come to.  They would be relativly low to make them easier to destroy, just seems like it would be more fair.  Maybe even give points for a kill some how?  Idk if the codeing is possible.  Any feed back?

General Discussion / Recruiting Devs
« on: 26-10-2012, 18:10:22 »
I've been playing this mod for about 2 years now and i have to say i really enjoy it.  The devs have done a good job making this mod.  I've read through a lot of the suggestion threads and noticed most get turned down, not because it was a bad idea, but because of man power.  Its always because the devs are short handed or don't have the time.  So i was wondering, do the devs ever try to recruit new help?  I can't recall seeing anything anywhere dealing with like a sign up sheet or a test to see if you "qualify" or "meet their standards".  I would think the devs would want more good help.  I've seen a lot of good customs maps, but I know they don't meet the devs standards and are left out.  I don't know of a good way to recruit others than maybe youtube or just the forum itself.  I also don't know if the current devs don't want to go through the hassel of judging every wanna-be-modder who would submit stuff, but i guess if they don't try the team will always be small.  Any feed back?

Suggestions / Rotating Weapons
« on: 24-10-2012, 23:10:25 »
I don't know if the BF2 engine will allow it do be done, but can it be made so that weapons in kits "rotate"?  Say one guy spawns with a rifle kit containing grenades, but the next guy has smoke grenades, or rifle grenades.  I know this was done in FHSW and i think in FH1 as well.  It was nice because it gave the kits more variety and you didn't always have the same old stuff.  I think this could become quite interesting if done, because you could have hundreds of variations on kits.  Just an idea.

Suggestions / Trucks and Halftracks
« on: 21-10-2012, 15:10:33 »
Ive noticed that trucks and halftracks dont get alot of use on maps. Mainly because there slow and loud and make good tank bait.  Plus the trucks have no means of attack, other than being used to move to a point faster than running and attack by foot.  I was wondering if trucks and half tracks could be made to deploy pick up kits, like mgs, mortars, ammo, and maybe sniper kits? This would give a reason to drive them to forward positions so you don't have to run to the main base all the time to get a "special" kit.  I would limit it to one or two of each kind of kit so we dont have 64 mgs running around  ::) This would be semi-real since trucks and halftracks were used to carry supplies in real life.  What do you think?

Suggestions / "Fun" Weapons
« on: 17-10-2012, 22:10:52 »
The purpose of this is for people to suggest, what im calling "fun" weapons.  These are weapons that would be "easy" to add to the mod without needing a great deal of time and effort.  I would like to see a muzzleloader (musket) and a stick of dynomite.  This would be similar to the angry farmer kit, more along the line of French resistant weapons.  The muzzleloader is the old gun thats been in the family for years and the dynomite is used to destroy german supply lines.  Please try and keep your ideas simple (as this increases the chance of it actually being added  ::)) since there are plenty of threads with crazy ideas already out there.  So start brainstorming and putting ideas out there.  :)
