DSL 6000. It is about 40€/month with 2 phone lines. Recently cut the costs when they offered DSL 16000 at the price I payed for DSL 6000 before. That was around 60€/month.

My firewall doesn't like the upload part.  But my Download is 13.62Mb to New York, NY from Central NJ, with a ping of 24ms.  Somewhere around 50-75 miles?  I get that far before it gives me an error on the upload part.

So, i am getting only 10% of what they sold me. Can't i like sue them for theft? Becouse this is starting to really annoy me since i often get disconnects that last a few seconds and crappy ping for no reason that i can see.


How much is the difference between what was promised you and what you get in reality with you guys?

Sometimes you can't handle the connection promised to you, I love in some godforsaken far away town so 50mb internet is out of the question for me, it's a miracle we got ADSL  ;D

How much is the difference between what was promised you and what you get in reality with you guys?

Are you sure it isn't 25 Mbits instead of 25Megabyte. If it is 25 Mbits you connection is just fine.

just call your ISP hotline and ask them
they can usually figure out if something is wrong (which could be)
or you are simply to far away from the next bigger connection point so the signal dampening kills your speed (2,5km can be enough for that)

seriously call your ISP and ask them i dont know yours but service on mine is usually good but i dont really have any problems. i can see the next connection point when looking out of the windows so i get 99% of what i was promised.

He can't if you are sure you both got 25 Megabit ADSL. To make it easy for you just divide your ISP promised connection speed by ten to know how many Megabytes per second you can download.
1 byte = 8 bits.

Awful. Despite being on an 8Mb/s subscription plan the area I live in is capped at 3.5Mb/s.

The annoying thing is, if I lived on the other side of the railway line I'd have absolutely no restrictions on the speed I'd be able to get. Fail.

Made a complaint phone call last week, now i get this with only 1/5 bars on my wireless connection status thingy...

It's a great connection, but my mom accidentally split the wireless for too many rooms, now it comes in and out every 20 minutes and she's too lazy to fix it, and I don't know how.

Those monthly limits are slowly approaching to up here north. Though at this moment only one ISP and only mobile connections.

Sonera has started to make use of those. The basic connection costs 2 euros more than competitors per month and it has ultimate 3GB monthly limit :P Then these cool 4G stuff that is approaching. Unlimited speed, 30GB monthly limit and 46 euros.

I wonder how much money they make as when it afaik reaches the limit it just adds couple of euros to the bill and gives you couple of GB more. And when those are actually in the best case almost 15mbit connections it really uses it up very quickly and people gets fooled.

Some Finn might. At least in Helsinki region, we have 200/10 available via cable TV network.

I could get one, but have only 110/5 at the moment because to get everything out of the new speed I would need a new router and a new switch (old ones are only 100/100), plus my new PC would still be the only device with a Gigabit LAN (old PC & X360 only have 100/100 anyway).

What the fuck is this shit? The lies of that test even beat Pinocchio. My average download speed is 500 kb/s and it sometimes peaks at 750 kb/s. Not fucking 4,5 mb/s.. So basically I could have fast internet but I don't got fast internet?

If you have 5mb/s download speed in that test, your max. download speedis circa 500kb/s. With 24Mbit internet max download speed is 2,4mb/s and so on. So, that test is correct.

Pretty damn happy with this. It slugged down to 10 Mb/s a few months ago but it seems they finally got their shit together at my provider. I, or rather at the moment my parents, pay for 50 Mb/s so I guess that's nice.

Turns out they're sending me a new modem. They say my Speedstream 5100 I received 11 years ago is outdated.

I'm just not sure whether that is the truth or just another trick to avoid doing any work on their part. Hopefully it won't be a Fritzbox or any other shiny new stuff that doesn't let you do any ajustments, phoning home once per day for failing updates, liking to contact the NSA and being the #1 target of the average scriptkiddie.

How can it be that it shows me a download rate of 10.41mb while I never can go beyond 1.3mb/s on actual downloads... 10k is my theoretical one and it measures it... now I wander where the other 9k mb are going.  ::)

A side note: I love how it tells me that the connection is crap and this is even more hilarious knowing that I pay like 40 eur per month for this connection.

Update:
Just received an Eltek A7100-I ADSL modem. Actually it is a router-modem, while the previous one was a bridge modem. My fears came true. Always disliked those router modems that have only castrated function. Now I gotta find out, how to make it work with my conventional router attached in between computer and modem. *sigh*

I used to have 40/10M broadband, but my contract was fixed-duration for 2 years. Some weeks ago I got call from my ISP as my contract was getting expired soon. They asked if I was happy with cost of my connection. I answered truthfully, that I have nothing to complain about that 36€ fee, as at time it was cheapest (for that speed) there was for me. After saying that, I got offer: Monthly fee lowered to 35€, internet speed upped to 100/10M and samsung galaxy tab 3 with limitless 4G connection.
