« on: 13-03-2010, 22:03:20 »
Yes.

Announced.

I still, really dont care that much, i cant find ArmA 2 Here, ArmA2 Sucks and PR is slow, ArmA is Slow, and this will be Uber Slow.

But the Models, Lightnings, and shit,  they look really good.

I hope they can bring us Something really cool. Still, they are doing an Awesome Job.

Gratz!

Is it 1st of april already?
That will bring slowness to a new level.
I hope they enjoy the bugs.

Looks good, (not that I like PR or ARMA) but it 'looks' really good.  Maybe they are edging themselves to be bought up, like the Desert combat team did for BadCompany.

(or is this an April fool and jokes on me.. heh..  :-\ )

We are not in any way changing engines. We have simply expanded the team's reach into ArmA2 with new developers. It is not PR2, nor are we ceasing PR:BF2 development.

Its not april first, checked.

Hmm... well if they really do that they are awesome. PR felt so stupid with BF2 as the engine just didn't support it that well, but now they are on their own soil. Can't wait, i might become liking PR after all just please let this be true.

I really like PR for BF2 and I also liked ArmA 2, even when there is bugs and my computer can't run it very well. I'm really looking foward to this mod.

Really? I think this is a bridge too far for them.

ArmA2 lacks players. The problem is not to find a 120 slot server, but actually to find one that is decently populated with more than 30 or 40 players. There are plenty of people modding it, and they all lack players for their servers.

There is also a WW II mod for Arma 2, which finds its roots back to Arma 1

All hating aside, what does Arma 2 offer that both extends the BF2 gameplay and adds to it?

I want to see if its worth the effort getting this for PR

And does any one have word on its support for singleplayer and bots?

It allows PR to work with a bigger enviorment and a bigger amount of players for servers. And some things like breaching a wall (check the 0.1 video) are a good addition to the insurgency modes. Also the distance of rendering is improved (working ghillies ;D ), and I've heard there is a way to fastrope out of choppers in other Arma 2 mods (fastroping is one of the biggest wishes on the PR forum). I'm guessing they are just searching for a game that can fit their needs to create an even bigger Reality Mod, and besides, they allready got most of the models from their BF 2 mod so I think they can port a lot.

If the singleplayer is any alike the original Arma 2 the AI should be OK for singleplayer mod fun. If it has any restrictions (like PR for BF2 with the kit system and capturing) they might need to edit the AI singleplayer support. No official news on this yet though.  :-\
