Question: I noticed you split up some of the archives into multiple ones (archives 1-5 for sounds for example). What was the reason for this? Does it speed up loading times?
This was done to optimize sizes of future patches.

keep calm everyone, we will definitely release technical update before gamespy servers go down. ATM it looks like awards/stats wipe will occur, as there is no safe way to preserve gamespy PID (Player ID) into new database, but it is all case to change yet.

@Moderators: move this to general discussion maybe?

Inspired by WInSPWW2 hassle going on in this forum I feel growing nostalgia for another awesome WW2 turn strategy game that Combat Mission series are.

Now, I'd really like to play some missions, against a human opponent, as I never really ahd the chance to do it back then when CM was "new".

So, if there are any other CM enthusiast that would like to kick my ass ;) we can set up a "mail" based game and play it for quite a long time (sorry, don't really have time for true network play, mailing the saves to eahc other, or attaching to forum posts is ideal for my time schedule).

I have CM Beyond Overlord; CM Barbarossa to Berlin & CM Afrika Korps.

Anyone? :>

Well, generated all those secondary Heightmaps, but the terrain is full of sharp hills - like hedgehog back, do you know why?
Most likely wrong heightmap resolution.

At 1:38, wasnt it impossible to make lights in different colours in BF2?
You can add a static light effects with any color you want, though it will just "glow", withut casting light on nearby surfaces.

This can be hacked-around via lightmaps (see Ts4Ever's post above), but lightmaps have limited colours they can cast AFAIK.

Sorry, i got the syntax wrong, that was actually how it will look in new version. In 2.45 you should add this:

from game.gameplayPlugin import standard
standard.append('testing')
to mods/fh2/python/game/config.py

and it should work like a charm:)

I keep getting the following error when I try to load my map, does anyone recognize it?

The map will launch fine on the second try, but crash on the first attempt. I have relatively recent backups that seemed okay, but the error came back and I'm having trouble tying it to anything.

Also, on an unrelated note, I'm trying to prevent players to getting into an area on the map (a cliff that's just barely steep enough that it's still climbable), and it seems like the inv_box static is pretty small. Is there a good way to block off an area without using a huge number of those little boxes?
The error is cause by poor Refractor 2 memory management (as in, poor for FH2, quite good for BF2) and the amount of your RAM.

What's FH2s default value for physics.gravity?
I heard in BF2 it's -15.
