Nice work. Did it damged vehicles before? Do we might see it on other maps, may as pick up kit, to disable static guns or tanks and such?

Thermite was not that commonplace at all, a standard practice for the allies was to actually capture the weapon but if they were to be destroyed, it was normal practice to just blow the breech or the barrel with whatever explosives were available.

In fact on the real PdH, Thermite and the guns were both absent. The Rangers used explosives to blow the 2 guns that they did find but the guns did not fire a shot in anger during the landings and they were abandoned by the time they were found by chance.

IMO, the real story behind PdH was the tenacity of the German defenders from the 20mm Flak position and bunker complex which put up a stiff resistance for days after the landings. (both notable absentees from the map we play)

Every source I've seen say that the Rangers found the relocated 155 mm gun in an orchard. There were six guns (some sources say five) and thermite was used.

my bad, it's been like 3 years since I last read this history. The Rangers used C4 on the flak bunker position but resorted to a combination of thermite bombs and brute force to disable the French guns.

""All that can be stated with assurance is that the Germans were put off balance and disorganized by the combined effects of bombardment and assault, to such an extent that they never used the most dangerous battery near the assault beaches but left it in condition to be destroyed by weak patrols.""

As far as I understand the source there were supposed to be 6 guns. But they were brougth into inland before the bombardements. So in the operation itself were no guns destroyed. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Would be good to check other sources as well.
