Sorry for the reddit meme  ;D

So yeah, Euthanasia has been legal in Belgium since 2002. You should know though, I support it. For obvious reasons, painful terminal illness etc. Why suffer?

So I went on a little fact finding mission and found alot of stories about many instances of involuntary euthanasia, a.k.a. murder. Most of the sites are of the the tin foil hat variety and sites that are not widely respected within these hallowed halls, like daily mail, fox etc.

So I figured Id consult some Belgians to find out more.

Is this true? Involuntary euthanasia for organ harvest, research etc.? What say you?

Iltis said a 2010 report by the Canadian Medical Association highlighted the fact that 66 out of 208 patients in Belgium were euthanized without explicit patient request – and that’s worrisome.
“You can imagine cases – maybe the patient’s family requested it – but the law as I understand it requires an explicit patient request,” she said.

Off-Topic / Well this wont end well...

I doubt anything would happen... but asking Stephen Hawking to prove something is like asking Mike Tyson to punch you in the face!

In all seriousness... I read reddit and imgur on a daily basis. While I find most everything truly funny from a meme state of mind and other things... I find that the place is full of pushy holier than though atheists who like to bask in their mutual admiration society. I am no evangelical, nope... Im fully in the middle when it comes to most things. If a political or otherwise ideological birds of a feather assemble, even if I might agree with it... Im running. Groupthink is actually what I find most terrifying!

I have spent too much time marveling at the sciences... astronomy... geology... natural... theoretical.. etc. and too much time gazing in wonders into my telescope... and then to experience that mind blowing feeling of I-don't-know-what... looking at such things, to think for one second this is some random  event. Nor do I believe that there is a bearded man watching. Im not foolish enough to think I actually know whats going on.

Wow, I think this is the first time somebody veered their own thread!

I guess what I am trying to say is that I find pushy atheists just as annoying as the Jehova's knocking on my door. I dont know how any scientist could look at the mathmatical simplicity of E=MC2, or a Fibonacci sequence and not think... damn... somebody's been here before. Nor would I ever want to shut down a scientist from pushing the envelope. ('cept maybe those evil sorcerers at the Large Hadron Collider). But I also have no problem with someone going into a quiet corner to do their thing. It always seems that western atheists are just anti-christian. They dont seem to have much to say about Mohammed or tentacled elephants... or fat asian men, anybody ever notice that?

Off-Topic / Mortal Kombat?
« on: 22-04-2011, 21:04:44 »
So my lady came home with Portal2 and Mortal Kombat  ;D

She either really loves me or wants me to stay away from her for awhile!

Still not sure how much I like MK, seems kind of slow and too many toasty's IMHO. I was a huge MK fan and a dominator in the local arcade... But I'm still going to play at least for a little while. I have not gotten a chance to play online, PSNetwork is down. Fack!

Also, my kids play the PS3 but do not know that I have MK. In previous versions, you could turn gore and fatalities off. I dont see a way to do that, but, I was in the 'krypt' where I unlocked "no blood" (code is 900900). If I can figure out how to turn off fatalities and that whole xray attack thing, I'll let them know its on... Alls Im saying is they do not play online games but they do go to PSN to download demos. So if you see me on there, dont automaticaly go "Fuck yeah stylie!", in other words, keep it cool till you know its me.

So once the network is back up and any of you jamokes want to test your might against your boy stylie, go ahead and send me a friend invite. If you have a different name make sure you tell me who you are.

My screen name is Sstylie
PS3 only.

Off-Topic / Thoughts on OT Forum...
« on: 16-02-2011, 19:02:30 »
Maybe this should be directed at a mod...

There seems to be a heck of alot of recurring giant threads in OT. You really cant keep a new topic on the 1st page for very long. You get bumped by the Joke thread... favorite music... militaria... screenshots of your games... etc...

I think its time for a clean up... Simply look at page 2, there are plenty of worthwhile threads that just cant get past the spam that OT has (sadly) become. Im still waiting for a favorite color thread or "What did mom pack you for lunch?" thread.

A different board I go to has a seperate forum they call... "Out to Pasture". Its basically for threads that have outlived their usefulness, they arent locked or closed, just set aside in their own little areas. Im not saying they are horrible threads (yeah they are), but new content is becoming hard to come by here. It might be nice to let some new topics stay in the light of day for a little longer. Just a thought.

First it was Hockey... Now Ewan Dobson!

In recent years Ive become more interested in individual fingerboard style acoustic guitar players, although this guy seems to be more of a picker. Its amazing enough to me that at 37 and having been an avid drummer since I was 14, Im going to pick up a guitar soon and take some lessons.

Also, the outfits are making me misty!

Pick any one of them.

Off-Topic / Two bands I checked out this weekend.
« on: 20-12-2010, 17:12:15 »
If anybody is paying attention, there is a bit of a new breed of progressive musicians coming out. No not progressive as in weenie's who like free shit. Progressive as in music that doesnt care about you and what you like. Music that doesnt care who or what it is, journeys of the mind and 20 minute long songs. Tight grooves and accomplished musicianship. I think something is building and Ive been waiting since the god damned 80's for this!!!

You can see it bubbling in some of the newer music like Mars Volta, Mastodon, etc...

Anyways, I found this band on youtube just clicking on different links. I was shocked to see it only had 3000 page views in 2 years, this band deserves more. Going to see them live... well, let me tell, I dont think Ive seen a better bass player in my time, dude was sick. Only problem was that they relied a little to heavily on slower stuff... not really my bag, I like to intense music. Not making love to your guitar.

I went to see this band at NorthStar Bar in philly over the weekend called "Consider the Source"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etsOEYSz19w

Their sick-ass bass player...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcCv6K2ToaI&feature=related

But I found I was a little bit disappointed in the band, not that much, as I said, too much slow music. But I got an earful watching the opening band. A philly act called iNFiNiEN

This is the best I got right now, I just heard of them and havent had time to really dive in.

enjoy...
