NCO kit vs. Recon kit
« on: 07-09-2012, 13:09:41 »
Don't you think that NCO kit is quite poor? Why SL should choose NCO kit instead of Rcon kit? Because of uniform? I suggest that NCO kit has also some special addition apart binocs, smoke and uniform... It could be s-mines or grenade (like on Giarabub). So far there's no advantage of having NCO kit (apart special uniform) and it seems that it's the poorest kit among others.

I like the SMG that comes with most NCO kits.

IMO the sniper kit and the recon kit shouldn't have the smoke grenade because it's more useful for assault team not for recon.

So why you don't take normal SMG with grenade?

Also: pistol + extra bandages

Wow...

Because I'd then lose the valuable binocs and the smoke grenades, which are super important for a good SL.

Are you mad? The smoke grenades are really important on some maps and you want to remove the smoke grenade from the recon and sniper kit? Overall the kit layout in FH2 is excelent except some flaws on some maps like the missing Engineer kit on St. Vith. And sometimes a second smoke nade for the SL could be useful to get a bit more of a role in the action instead of just hiding in a corner and waiting. The Italian NCO kit is extremely useful btw as you get a bomba a mano with it.

Agreed on the Italian NCO kit. This one is indeed really usefull even if the carbine is not that awesome.

Tbh NCOs could get a frag grenade or two. About the smoke grenades, I'd actually like to see the Recon kit limited (not too much though) so not everyone would use it... it feels kinda odd when more than half of your team is running around with binocs and smoke instead of frag grenades (i.e. rifleman kit).

i really like this suggestion. Recons and scouts should be limited

Personnaly, i feel that the Assault class is more needed of an upgrade. A single smoke grenade perhaps would be nice.

Also, i feel that the recon kit should get a AP mine defusal tool. One that allows you to disarm your own and enemy AP mines

You could disarm a mine with a bayonet, I saw a photo wich they did that.

agreed, giving a single smoke grenade to Assault kit while limiting the Recon kit would be pretty balanced.

This as well, the kit then gains a valuable tool on the battlefield which would be balanced by being limited.

Why I simply prefer NCO before recon is because of the extra gear; the choice between SMG and rifle, extra bandages, sidearm (pistol), and if you're playing Italian you get some granade too. If you pick the bolt-action rifle as a squadleader the sidearm comes more handy in close combat.

I barely would pick the SMG kit as a squadleader even though it has granades. The squadmember should be able to have SMG kit before the squadleader since they can't have the NCO kit unless they pick it up in the battlefield. Therefore because the SMG kit is limited kit every taken SMG kit by the squadleader is a lost kit from the squadmember in my opinion.

Speaking of uniform I don't think about it while taking NCO kit. If we think about how easy it is to recognize the squadleader from the squadmember especially in North-Africa (the hat the German and British squadleaders are wearing) so I wouldn't consider the uniform as one of the reasons to pick NCO kit.

Nope they should be added to assault or /and rifleman class, but not for Sniper and recon kit.

I have the same dilemma every time I play SL. I always use the scout kit then, since it has the s-mine. I suck with handguns, so that SL advantage is void (especially if you chose the SMG - and I'm not even sure the scout doesn't have a handgun). Extra bandage? Hardly ever needed cuz when you're shot once the next time is gonna kill you.

The one way to improve the SL class imo, is by including more than 1 smoke grenade. It just seems silly to only have one cuz it simply means you can only properly lead one assault.

And please do NOT add smoke grenades to inf. class. Then it's just gonna be smoke-o-rama on every level.
