Modding / Custom font in FH2

Over at the PR forums, there's a guy that's redone the BF2 fonts, used in the menu and all.

I thought I'd give that a try in FH2 as well. And boy, does that look nice... It may not be the font you prefer and it's not 100% perfect, but it makes things look sooo much better.

Here's the thread on the PR forums: http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-pr-bf2-community-modding/145306-hud-font-facelift.html. That also contains the download link to "fonts_custom.zip".

If you want to use it as well, do this:
  • Download the fonts_custom.zip
  • Place the .zip file in your FH2 directory
  • Open clientarchives.con with notepad (or whatever you prefer)
  • Add a line "fileManager.mountArchive fonts_custom.zip Fonts" above "fileManager.mountArchive fonts_client.zip Fonts", like so:
  • Start FH2 and enjoy!

Active weapon: K98 (was active for a while, wasn't scrolling through weapons or anything)
What was I doing: walking/running, not firing, not reloading, nothing

If you've updated your punkbuster "recently", I'm sure you're familiar with this. Psyrus on the PR forums has a potential fix for it. I've applied it (so have many others) and it's working great so far:

/Battlefield 2/pb/ folder

I copied this folder over from my laptop (which has been playing PR no issues) and it loaded without that initial-join failure. I did eventually get kicked from the server due to it not being updated or something, but I've since played about 10 hours of PR (mostly on CIA) and have had no subsequent kicks. I did use pb_sleep 500 though, so I would suggest anyone trying this fix to do the same.

Steps to try solution:
  • Backup your /Battlefield 2/pb/ folder [SIZE="1"][I just copied and renamed it to XYZ][/SIZE] then remove the original /pb/ folder (we'll be putting my one in there)
  • Download the file [Here]
  • Unzip the file to /Battlefield 2/pb/
  • Try to join a PR game, see if it does the initial-join disconnect
  • If  not, once in-game... open the console (~) and type:
    • pb_sleep 500 and pb_writecfg

Please test for a few hours and let me know if it works for you. Hope it helps other people!!!

Bug Reporting / SdKfz 250 "enableItem()" bug?

Was playing Sidi Bou Zid just now. Don't know what layer, I reckon it's cq64. It was on the 762 server.

I was American and drove around in a German SdKfz 250. I got on the gun (seat F3) and after a couple of seconds of just looking around (not firing or pressing any buttons) I got this message:

FH2 Help / Support / Forum issue: Search bar

The forum looks fine, but the input field for the search is placed too much to the right. I have to scroll horizontally to get there. It's like this:



I'm using Firefox 7 with dual monitors, and Firefox 8 with single monitor. Seems to be OK in Internet Explorer (though doesn't look very nice either).

Can this be fixed? It used to be fine a while ago.

I don't know if this is the correct forum, I couldn't find one for website/forum issues and what not.

Anyways, on the website of FH, there's a link to the FH wiki, but it's not working: http://fhwiki.warumdarum.de/w/Main_Page

Is it supposed to be working, or is this a leftover from 'the old days'?

Bug Reporting / Exhaust visible through everything

Don't know if it's an engine issue, but I don't recall seeing this one before.



The smoke you see in the middle of the screen is from the exhaust of a tank far ahead. It's visible through everything.

FH2 Help / Support / Shader issue

I don't get it, yesterday it was all running fine, and today I'm getting black/white vision when 'zoomed in'. So, what I did to try to fix it:

- I'm always running from FH2.exe
- shaders_client.zip (in BF2-dir) gets renamed to vanilla
- shaders_client.zip is moved from FH2 directory, to BF2 directory
- The moved shaders_client.zip is the exact same file as shaders_client.zip.backup, that's also in the FH2 directory
- I cleared my cache in My documents/BF2/cache and My documents/BF2/mods/FH2/cache

Still getting the black/white vision. Can anyone help me fix this? Didn't do anything, yesterday and the days before it was working fine, today it's messed up for some reason...



Edit: I get the feeling it's the shaders_client.zip in my FH2 folder. It says the creation date is today? Same counts for the backup file in the FH2 folder.


Okay, can anyone place the BF2 1.5 and FH2.2 shaders online? I'll then put them in the BF2 resp FH2 folders.

Hi guys,

AfterDune here, from PR. I installed FH2.2 a while ago and am really enjoying the game, doesn't feel like BF2 at all, which is a good thing, hehe. Maps, weapons, statics, sounds, everything is high quality. You can see a lot of time and effort went into creating it all, it really shows :).
No, it isn't like PR at all and I like it that way to be honest. It's a totally different game with its own gameplay, can't compare it one bit, so I won't :D.


Something else. I have created various scripts you can use on PR servers (in-game admin commands, smart balancing, logging, etc), but with minor changes can work on any other BF2 mod. These scripts don't require the use of bf2cc(d). More info can be found here in case you're interested.
(don't get me wrong, not wanted to just promote this, but it came to mind when I was playing FH2 the other day :)).
