Off-Topic / wow it has been a while

Hey everyone,

I know none of you remember me, but I used to sort of hang out at these forums. Perhaps the only memorable thing I started was the "I pwn you thread"

It's funny because I was just talking to an old friend of mine, reminiscing about the good old high school days, talking about our all time favourite games, and I had to conclude that it was FH. Of all the games I've ever played in my life, never have I had more enthralling and amazing experiences than what the FH mod for bf42 an bf2 delivered. The fh community has endured for so long, and it, in and of itself, single handedly made FH the unique phenomenon that it is - of course the word "community" includes the modders as well.

I was more active during the "FH1" times, just because I had some family and other issues, which didn't allow me to game as much as I wanted to after FH2 came out. I also didn't have a computer capable of playing FH2 at the optimal settings for quite some time - still don't, but that will hopefully change.

I remember posting this picture, just in ancticipation of FH2 - way before it came out. It was suppossed to be mocking the whole old european conception of spontaneous generation, whereby it was believed that the origin of life sprang from inanimate matter.

Then, as a joke, I made this picture, saying that it was a FH2 "leaked screenshot." And of course It was just some toy soldiers and some old tank models in a photo shop portrait.

In any case, I just wanted to get back into the FH community. And as I can tell it's still vibrant, hopefully I can start playing again.

Seriously what's so ugly or harsh sounding about the word Schmetterling?
Schmetterling is one of the nicest sounding words imo.

Off-Topic / Killing Floor

ok I don't know exactly how many people here are into zombie games - or zombie culture for that matter - but I'm a pretty big fan of Left for Dead, which I'm sure everyone here knows more or less about.  Killing floor was just released on Steam yesterday. From what I've read, it's a more complex, gritty, less action packed, and eerier British version of Left for Dead -  here's the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y81s3yIbZcE

It had a humble beginning and started out as a mod for Unreal Tournament I think it was, and as it turned out it became fairly popular and appeared in a few prominent gaming magazines and eventually caught Tripwires attention (makers of RO) they then took the modding team under their wing and worked with them to construct a fully developed standalone game.

anyways, has anyone played it yet? What are your thoughts so far?

anyone here into fantasy, science fiction, or horror books?

Right now I'm reading book 11 in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordon and it's really great.  Also anything by Dean Koontz is guaranteed to be an exciting read. John Grisham is really good as well..

a few random books that just come to mind right now that I would recommend in case you've never happened to read them are: The Time Machine, Great Expectations, Slaughterhouse 5000, Odd Thomas and No Country for Old Men. Also there are some really good short stories out there as well, one that comes to mind right now is: The Overcoat
