I copped this idea from a thread on the Mount & Blade forums.
I feel like no one actually listens to the music people post in the music thread, so I thought this might be a good idea. Very simple, just listen to the song in the lastest post, rate it, and post your own.
I'll start with a crowd pleaser
Public Service Broadcasting - Spitfire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u4Md_aXVJE
-
4/10 for music, not really my kind of style was a bit slow and calm. Upgrading to 5/10 for video.

8/10 catchy tune, liked it.

It started nice but there's something about the whole grunting that I feel compelled to stop listening.

From Amazon.com: The fact that vocalist Rob Halford's tracks (allegedly damaged in the recording process) were later replaced in the studio has long been a bone of contention to purists (though hardly an unusual practice in the industry), but fresh ears may find the "problem" actually resulted in a better-sounding record.
Still amazing, but his vocals being done in studio......... 9/10

You do have a nice 20th century backspin here.
If you cover an 80's popsong, you'll get some sort of 80's poser heavy metal. On the first glimpse, I see no difference compared to the original. Then, as I think about it, did the 80's song have guitars?
I was a child in the 80's, god, I hated the music in that decade.
^^I rate that with a clement 5/10.
More backspin, bring flowers:

I really like Deadwood so far. I believe it's considered part of HBO's Golden Age (The Sopranos, the Wire, Deadwood, Rome, etc.) It's on Netflix, strangely, at the moment, or French Netflix at the very least.

Wow. Ancient classic music. Dear Bob Dylon, you might have been a genius of your time, but I could not imagine a situation I'd listen to this. Even though the refrain is catchy.
2/5
Well then, I think Heavy Metal was already killed by Hardcore in the 90's like video is reported to have been killing the radio star.
Strain - Driven (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDnEi0iO-Ok)
Referring to Deadwood then. The first season is the best. The second season is a repetition from season one. Exchangeable episodes loosely bound together like episodes of the second or third Sopranos seasons. If you'd want to describe the content with one word, 'cocksucker' would tell it all. There is a harsh cut between season 2 and season 3 then. Felt as disappointing as the cut they had betwen the 2 seasons of Rome. In season 3 some characters make weird twists that are not comprehensible. After season 3 you won't complain about the missing 4th season.
-
About Deadwood, we'll see. But I thought every Sopranos season was a masterpiece, especially season 3 (1,3, & 5 were the best in my opinion) but I think even a bad Sopranos episode blows everything else out of the water. I'm also somewhat forgiving of Rome's second season because Mark Antony was my favorite character.
Anyway, here's some soul for the morning.
Solomon Burke - Fast Train
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k_IsvE111A

6/10, because I don't mind listening to a bit of soul every now and then, but it's a bit too slow for my taste.

Feel tempted to post Heroine by velvet now, but I'll go for something a bit different.
Einstuerzende Neubauten - Selbstportrait mit Kater

edit: not fair maybe to post a 7 minute long song. oh well, listen to a few minutes to it. And it ends after 6 minutes.
-
9/10, the Einstuerzende Neubauten concert I saw in Amsterdam years ago is still the best concert I ever saw. I really like the fact that they make their own instruments. Why not 10/10? Because they have several better songs than this one ;)
Another cool concert I saw at the same place was Fishbone:

4/5 Started out a bit skeptical, but I grew to like it by the end. Sounded like something I'd hear in a Final Fantasy game or something. Browsing the comments I saw it was from War Thunder. Weird.

Hard to rate, giving it 3/5. A classic, and a part of me likes it. Video is amazing. But not crazy for the song, probably partially 'cause my dad listened to it all the time when i was younger - perhaps forever scarring it for me. But yes, it is good.

Anyway, not necessarily very good, but interesting, one of the last recordings of a castratus singing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLjvfqnD0ws

Yeah well, how to ever rate this? It is beautiful music, but it is also weird. I mean, in my today's opinion getting a castration to obtain a somewhat unique voice is way out of line.

Classical music isn't my preference but far be it from me to criticize Vivaldi or the musician's playing. I've also been playing quite a lot of EUIV lately so I've been in the mood for it lately, 5/5.
I know a lot of you don't like pretentious indie hipster music but I do a lot. Here's a song from the opening act of a concert I went to last night. When he put a helmet on on stage I knew things were going to get the right amount of weird.
Mechanical River - Pomelos

Great music if you want to chill while having the time during your sabbatical. I'd rate that that 3.5/5.
Unfortunately I don't have the time.
For a couple of days this is making me crazy:

Edit: Different song, not crazy about Mazzy Star anyway.
Com Truise - Thanks Bill Remix

7/10, quite catchy, nice beat. I could chill to this.
Pretty incredible to me that you never heard madness before :) Try out some other ska acts if you like it, like Bad Manners, The Specials and The Selecter.

Not bad, but not really my thing. Kind of lacking a certain "drive" for me, if that makes sense. Probably doesn't. BTW, for Germans who cant watch Pyjama Sharks vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRWMmU89FrU

Not bad. I've never watched Sons of Anarchy, but I've heard its mediocre. Whose show is it? AMC? Anyway this song sounds like something I'd hear at a bar, but wouldn't pay that much attention to. I like the flute out of nowhere, though ;D 3/5
Hot Chip - One Life Stand
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk-A-I-T2NU

I'm worried that peeps don't like my Hot Chip. So here's another - I like to listen to synth music when I'm drunk, apparently.

4/5
Schließmuskel - Sehet, welch ein Mensch

Let's get this thread back on the road. Summer's over and school's back in session, so I'm sure we all need some new music to work/procrastinate to.

Beach House - PPP

Effin brilliant, that keyboard gets me somehow, easy 4/5.
David Gilmour - No way
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMhDPMXWrv4
I know it's David Gilmour, and it's nice, but somehow it just doesn't grab me. 3.5/5
Arcade Fire - Supersymmetry

7-10 a bit slow
The Kinks - You really got me (live)

Glad you liked it. If that's your thing you should check out more Beach House. They just came out with their latest album, which this song is from, but their best work imo is the album "Teen Dream". I'm going to see them in concert tomorrow night, super stoked.

Let's turn it down a notch.
Shostakovich - Waltz No. 2

10/10
I've actually been listening to a lot of Russian classical music lately in an effort to find a good lose music for the russian side in FH2. ;D This is nice.
Anyway, in celebration of Rammstein finally reaching the 21st century and getting a Youtube Channel:

1/5. Never heard of Blase, but I'm not a fan, and I hate hate hate Rae Sremmurd. They sound like they're 12 years old.
Al Stewart - Roads to Moscow
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_ZG6tRGMYk

Too depressing and lengthy for me. Honestly sounds like it belongs in the opening credits of some 70s movie. 4/10

8/10 could be the outro to a cowboy movie. Brings me that mental image of a cowboy riding away in the sunset after wasting his money on poker and whores.

Heard it at work, i really like the humming.
-
3/5. I liked it, I had never heard of her before. Where do you work? Where I work we only play like the radio top 5 songs on endless repeat. It gets old fast.
EL VY - I'm the Man to Be
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYr2FWnSaAo
The singer is the lead singer from The National, my favorite band, and this is his new side project. For me it's like X-mas come early. This has been a very good year for music imo.
-
I work at a supermarket and we hear a nice mix of songs ranging from really brilliant to absolute shite. We get a lot of songs but when you spent 8 hours a day, 5 days a week at a place it also gets boring.

New life!
Since I was the last person to post a song, I rate it 5/5, because I have great musical taste.
And next up:
Like a Ship - Traveling Wilburys
