Shooting in Alphen aan de Rijn
« on: 09-04-2011, 15:04:59 »
At least six dead after a man empties multiple machinegun clips into shopping crowds in a mall in Alphen aan de Rijn, the Netherlands. Could get worse if this is a disgruntled soldier or something after the Defense department cuts yesterday. The madman is among the dead.

6 dead, 4 severely wounded and 7 lightly wounded..

Rumours indeed say he could be an ex-soldier going postal but there's no way to confirm that right now, just speculation.

Explosive experts are now checking out a car in the parking lot which contained a package..

Very sad story.

That is what you get for teaching American English at school instead of British like in Belgium :)

Still, always sad to hear about a shooting like this, wish the best to the family's off all those effected.

What? Where did you get that nonsense.

I'd only pass if I spelled it humour or theatre. Even Opera disagrees with the proper spelling  :P

Yeah, thanks to Microsoft Office default language settings too.

Anyway, if this guy is really an ex-soldier, no gun-control argument here.

In here, the police and security guards check every people coming to public places and policeman randomly question people carrying susceptible bags like sports bag, I was questioned briefly once.

Not an (ex)military man. He was member of a gun club, he had a permit for 5 firearms and was in possession of 3.

Would have happened sooner or later, we saw it in Germany and Belgium before.

Wasn't the weapon he used fully automatic? Those are illegal. Nothing to do with gun laws. You can get illegal guns everywhere.

So the following concept applies; if guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have them.

Also known as HMS Campbeltown

Then eliminate the outlaws, and then noone have guns.

Well, to play guns is fun I suppose, just don't hurt the others!

Yep
And the thighter your gun law is, the more flourishing a black market becomes

Belgium has a good gun law on that. It is both free as restricted to own a firearm.

He was a member of a shooting club. That's what I meant with gun control. Normally they keep tabs on their members, like for example they don't have a rep with the five-oh.

Anyway it will probably turn out he was a gamer, a loner and they will want to abandon games. Time to take out the old pim-pam-pet and chessboard from the attic.
