Lemon Squeezers and Southern Crosses
« on: 09-09-2009, 02:09:47 »
As a New Zealander I would like to formally request a Lemon Squeezer Hat (Figure A.) and the New Zealand Flag (Figure B.) for theses maps:
Invasion of Crete
The Battle for Sfakia

Figure A.

Figure B.

I (and I'm sure most New Zealand players) would not mind if the voices were kept as British.

Problem is aussie, british, and greek troops all fought in the battle...so I think the generic british set up is fine for Crete...:P

The same could be said for the maps that the Aussies are in, therein lies the fallacy of your argument.

The Battle of Crete is considered by many here in New Zealand as a New Zealand battle since a New Zealand Army officer, Major-General Bernard Freyberg VC was appointed commander of the Allied forces on Crete. Another point is many of the positions shown in the FH2 Map were defended by New Zealand forces in real life. I'm not making an argument for "our-countrys-participation-was-more-then-so-and-so's" nor am I demanding it be put at the top of the Devs list of things to do (frankly I think they're priority right now should be for a nice long well deserved holiday after giving us Normandy), what I am saying however is please give it some serious consideration and perhaps make at least one Kiwi happy :)

Your request isnt a heavy one either. I wouldnt say no to this since it only requires a hat and a flag...

I say this is a cool idea.  A pointy hat surely has at least +3 badass factor for it, plus more countries is even better.

That's not true, australians were the actors of Giarabub and Bardia assault, and the defence in the first battle of Tobruk

Exactly, thank you Lobo.  Here's how many troops were on Crete:

United Kingdom:
15,000
Greece:
11,000
Australia:
7,100
New Zealand:
6,700
Total:
40,000

Duly, we should consider the UK, then Greece, then Australia, before we put in New Zealand.  Find a battle the New Zealander's fought in as the main force, THEN I'll be all over the lemon squeezer.

Just showing nationalism for his country i suppose. I've never had to worry about Americans being put in a map so i dont know how you feel but i do sympathize for you and think its a nice idea.

At least your not that one guy from Hungary telling the devs, "Screw the Pacific!, wheres Hungarian Hope???"
"And on the sixth day, God saw the need of a high powered rifle that could slaughter Germans at ranges in excess of 2000 yards, and so He created the Lee Enfield. And He saw that it was good, and so on the seventh day, God rested."

That would be good for the game's realism but i bet the FH2 creators are too lazy

Oh come on now you are really trying too hard.

I'm for it. More variety is always good. Perhaps only add them to Crete and let the Brits have Sfakia.

I think it's a good idea, just because of the thread title, anyone that can get lemonsqueezer into a thread title and have it make sense on a WW2 mod forum deserves whatever they want in game.

BTW@ N24Reporter : now that Normandy is out, just wth was behind that intriguing censored signature of yours?
