Title: Make Base Defensives invulnerable?

Hey Ladies!

Just a Thought: Why not make the Base Defensives (Flakvierling/US Quad of Cobra as Example) invulnerable? That could have two positive Changes:

1. Less Baserape (always good)
2. Protection for the Base Assets (Arty/Commander)

It can't be hard to mod this - at least i don't think so. But it had a good Impact on the Gameplay.

What do you guys think?

Ok Slayer, had to google that to figure out what you were talking about.

But what if, instead of invulnerable, they were given a very fast re spawn. It wouldn't be 'god mode' but it would still accomplish almost the same result.

Hehe, HFB, It hought you were in the same age category as me ;)

My problem with the difference between "base guns" and "field guns" is that it creates an inconsistency. And inconsistencies are bad.

How often does it really happen that a mainbase is attacked? And how often if air attacks are subtracted?

Consistency is a big key for me. I hate complaining about FH2 itself but I really, really dislike the inconsitencies in static weapons, some being teamlocked and some not and some respawn normally and some need to be repaired, etc. I don't particularly care how any of them work, I just want them all to work the same.

Slayer: Did you ever played Cobra on the german Side, when they lost all Flags? Static Defensives are pure Air Force Fudder.

Yes, KeFeng, I did. Basically, when axis can't get out of their base anymore, they have lost the game.

And I wrote "how often with air attacks subtracted" for a reason.

First: you name one example, and I know Cobra, but it is one of 30+ maps in FH2. It is a very bad idea to change something in the entire mod, based on the experience of one map.

Second: it is an air attack problem. Place more AA's, preferably mobile ones. Problem solved.

This suggestion does not make sense imo. Main base AA's are strategical targets for fighter pilots. For example: A German 109 pilot will always try to take out the AA in British main base on Supercharge, as Stukas are often in range of the AA in the first stage of the game. And same goes ~ for Cobra and it's fine. You can't balance out Cobra by changing general things, that makes things rather worse. Last thing I need is some AA gun that fires 24/7 and I can't take it out...

Balance is important but complex and I agree that it's hard for the Germans on Cobra as the enemy planes take out nearly every tank that leaves the German main base. But making AA invulnerable is not the right way to go in order to balance this map properly.

I'd just add one more AA gun/truck and another airplane spawning in main when the US has taken all flags.
