This wont be based of a Novel though. This was appearntly a decision of author Dmitry Glukhovsky himself, and he writes the story, together with 4A- games

Teaser trailer
Gameplay trailer

The story will be centerd more Metro wise, and will follow the canon "Bad ending" of Metro 2033.

Wohooo!
Metro was awesome
1st book was epic, second not so much, so I'm glad the game has a fresh story.
Hope there will be co-op.

I'm with Smiles, I liked seeing something about the new Metro but those children cartoons messed this thread up.

Oh then you'll like the new book from St. Petersburgh. That turned out way better than Metro 2034.

Dmitry Glukhovsky decided himself that metro 2034 story line wont be used due to your above reason. It couldnt fit in a game aswel.

(thanks flippy for moving)

Anyway. A while ago it was confirmed that Last light will have multiplayer and CO-OP(this was undecided at first but it has been confirmed)

Seeing as there are several factions (Rangers, Hanza, Communists, Fourth reich, stalkers, bandits and so on) this might be quite fun to see. I do hope however there will be a gamemode where you can spawn as mutants. Like snouts or liberian.

The CO-OP however is the Biggest anticipated by fans. And i have to say i to am very looking forward to this.

Also the Trade system of Metro 2033 will be retained. Aswel as the stealth system however it will be a bit updated.

Moral point system is retained, thus the game will have several endings
Gasmasks and stalking on the top will be retained

Another new thing i am VERY looking forward to, is the bolt action rifle

http://metro2033.wikia.com/wiki/Bolt-Action_Rifle

This weapon is VERY intresting. It looks like a mosin nagant, but with a schmidt rubin K31 style straight pull system. Along with a side mounted 8 round magazine.

An unconfirmed rumour says that the reason why the game got rescheduled to 2013, is because 4A games and THQ wanted a longer campaign so that the game will have a better chance on the market. Sales of Metro 2033 was Very very well and profitable, thanks to steam sales and other actions.

I still don't get why the majority of the weapons in the game are fictional. The books were full of Pechenegs, Ak47s, AK74s, DShKs, Hunter even had an APB Stechkin. Sure, bunch of home-made "pipe rifles" and whatnot is awesome, but it feels like they overdone it. Guns aside, i think it looks great, and its going to have CO-OP, one of the things i think 2033 was missing.

They really need to update the stealth system. Would be neat if you could have the choice of either killing everything or avoiding enemies. Previously you had no chance of being undetected - must've been the glowing radiation.
