Please make more Normandy maps that have similar gameplay to Totalize.
It's my favourite map for FH2 right now. No matter what your role on this map I just find it fun. As a squad you have a lot of options too, it's especially fun defending the artillery hill using the pak/nebel/88 (until artillery blows it to bits). Lots of cover for infantry as well so it's easy to go on the offensive. It has a great "sandbox" feel to it, where it's never the same twice. It's hard to say the same for other maps.
I hope for a map like it with Americans or British. A push map like it would not be so bad.

Yeah! And don't forget to add the chevy to the desert in Mountbatten pink and the Fletcher Waters dark side of the moon guitar solo kit when you do the anzio bridge head [salute].
and zundapps, still not seen a zundapp...
</sarcasm>
I'm sure muchos maps like Totalize will be unveiled in due course. I agree Totalize is just amazing, shame there aren't more tickets in the round.

indeed.Totalize is the epic of all maps
Everyone loves=Full tank maps and Full infantery maps
Many dislike=Half tank maps where the one team gets all the tanks, and the other team barely nothing

Gameplay of those maps is very different. The layout and the weapons available make it kind of difficult for squad play. There isn't one glaring reason for this, just a lot of small things. Mostly it is the flat terrain and spacing of objectives. As a squad it's much more useful to be defensive. On offense you can only hope your squad leader ninjas his way near a flag.

Large 2km maps like Totalize take a while because of all the vegetation and terrain shaping that has to be done. Surely, we'll see more large Normandy maps in the future, but they just take longer. Totalize was released with 2.2 cause it used a DICE heightmap which allowed the production time to be cut down.

Whine mode on:
I guess i'm the only one who's not into totalize. Sure, it's a good map but there's way too many tanks for my liking. Considering we have only 32 players per team and if over half of that is consumed by tanks and planes where's the infantry. Feels lame to have only one dedicated infantry squad and everyone else is just rolling with them tanks. But that's just me, nice people are enjoying it:)

Guys, maybe you got swine flu?, all that coughing, CLOSE MADAGASCAR!

Bird flu actually

Madagascar can never be infected unless you start there.

I wa ssick the whole weekend. There was a big swine flu outbreak in the area, so I might have got it, but I'm not sure as I didn't see a doctor.

May I have your autograph sir?
On topic: I like the historicaly accurate maps more.

yes, battle for Hill 262 "the mace" would be niiiice.
-
Mont Ormel ftw.
-
Operation Cobra (already in production and testing) is a good candidate for this, I think.
-
Cobra will be a very refreshing map, from what I experienced I don't find it playing alot like Totalize. So don't get your hope up high, as this is Forgotten Hope.
-
Yea totalize is a great map, really what this game is all about IMO. Sure the other maps are good too, but I really enjoy when there is everything thrown into one. :P

Totalize is an EPIC map, and FH2 could use plenty more of these. Small, atmospheric, 110% accurate infantry maps like PHL are all fine and well, just as long as we get some huge tank battles and air attacks aplenty somewhere inbetween. Of course, such maps can never be totally accurate since airfields of the oppising sides were rarely within the same 2 km x 2 km square, but I can live with the scaling as long as it serves its purpose. I can live with the fact that it's not modelled on the basis of Google Maps, Google Earth and historical & current on-location photos, for me it's enough that a map is "thematically" correct when it offers such massive and entertaining combined arms action.
Eagerly waiting for the Eastern Front and similar treatment for Prokhorovka (where there was also a railroad ;)).

If any of you have played Call Of Duty 3 for the consoles, it shows you the mace with the polish defending the top of the hill...i think the mace was during the falaise pocket etc....i think Caen would make a pretty awesome map with the british and germans having tank support "bit like arnhem from FH1" where you must advance cautiously through the streets and then you get ambushed, i'd love to play a map like that!. Villers bocage will be good too!.

Mont Ormel (Hill 262, The Mace) was quite near to Saint-Lambert (Falaise Pocket in FH2) and there the polish troops of 1st Armoured Division captured vital hilltop and a town of Mont Ormel from german defenders and therefore closed the Falaise gap there aswell, forcing the germans who tried to flee the pocket to try from some other direction.
Germans then launched a counter attack against the poles who had dug in to the positions on the slopes of the hill and within the town itself. Poles then had to fight off german attackers and prevent them from keeping the gap open for their retreating comrades. Road that went through the town and along the slopes of the hill turned into so called "Death's Corridor" and a lot of german equipment and men were totally destroyed on that road. Polish managed to hold the germans off long enough for the canadian infantry to arrive and reinforce them at Hill 262. Canadian typhoons helped the defenders aswell.

I can see my old thread in FF is still remembered!

A good candidate would be operation perch

Panthers, Tigers, Cromwells, Firefly's it has it all.
Altough it would require some new units.
The Centaur tank with the 95MM howitzer was heavily used on this operation. Also the 4.5Inch Medium gun.
The battle was Inconclusive

Mont Ormel ftw.
Yes, please!
