Off-Topic / Attention, Audiophiles!
« on: 25-11-2012, 19:11:34 »
My old soundbar took a dump today, and I've been looking for some decent speakers. I'm not looking for anything in-depth, just a cheap ($20-30 [€15-25]), basic system that'll give a rich sound for music and will make those explosions fill the room.
I'm already considering this. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

After a year of hurtling through space, our little science-bot will be landing today using some weird rocket contraption.

Off-Topic / Any Violinists here?
« on: 22-03-2012, 00:03:29 »
I was thinking of getting into playin' the fiddle, but I don't know much about it. First off: I'm left-handed. I've gone through a few websites with no definitive answer on weather or not a left-handed violin should be bought or not.
I'll add on to the issues as I think of them, my brain's a bit fried to think of them all.

I'm not an avid fan of his products, but I do like my iPod.  His imagination and warmth he gives to the company will definitely be missed.

FH2 Help / Support / FH2/BF2 refuses to start
« on: 24-07-2011, 17:07:06 »
After Installing everything (BF2 3.0 full patch, incremental to 5.0; FH2 2.4 Full install), The game plays completely fine...once. After quitting properly the first time, neither BF2 or FH2 will start up again.  When I click on either BF2 or FH2 icons (or even the executables in the files), the screen turns black for a second, shows the desktop with the colour scheme changed, turns black again for a second, then flashed back to the normal desktop.  The light and increased fan activity are the only things showing that I had attempted to run the game.  There are no error messages or anything other than an activity indicator and a high-pitched fan.
Reinstalling it solved the issue, but only for one play.  After that, what I described above happens.  I really don't want to have to reinstall all that shit whenever I want to play for a bit.

Modding / NML Is Open!

Due to some minor confusion with a French-Canadian and I, I would like to restate that Betatesting privileges in No Man's Land are extended to all FH2 Developers, Betatesters, and Website administration only. Feel free to join the forums here and we will give access to those previously mentioned.  We would love to see you on test days. Don't forget the NML groups on Steam and Xfire so you can be informed on Test days.  Teamspeak information is provided in the private section on the forums.

FH2 Help / Support / Random Freezes
« on: 21-02-2011, 16:02:25 »
When I play FH2 (and some other games) my computer sometimes freezes.  I can do nothing, no input is responded to until after the freeze ends.  The freezing itself lasts anywhere between 10-40 seconds; during this period, the game continues and my character still moves in the same way I was before it froze.  The sound still plays or loops.  This happens regardless of the video settings.  Any help would be appreciated.

Off-Topic / Biggest-Ever Night Sky Image Released
« on: 18-01-2011, 21:01:19 »
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2011/01/big-sky-image/

"The new image consists of 1.2 trillion pixels and covers a third of the night sky, capturing half a billion individual stars and galaxies. Every yellow dot in the image (above) is a galaxy, and zooming in on each dot reveals a galaxy’s detailed structure and individual star-forming regions."

I think this picture will be fun to toy with in an editor.

http://www.google.com/sky/

If you zoom in a couple of times, you are still barely seeing anything but galaxies.  You are but a nanomolecule upon a speck upon a speck upon the pimple of the ass of the galaxy; which in itself is a nanomolecule upon a speck upon a speck upon the pimple of the ass of the universe.

Off-Topic / Lunar Eclipse on Winter Solstice!
« on: 19-12-2010, 20:12:25 »
"As many as 1.5 billion people worldwide will be able to watch when the Earth's shadow creeps across the moon's surface early Tuesday morning, the first time in hundreds of years that a lunar eclipse will fall on the winter solstice.

With the full moon high in the winter sky, the lunar eclipse will be visible from four continents, with the best views from North America and Central America if weather permits, scientists say."

http://www.aolnews.com/2010/12/19/lunar-eclipse-december-2010-falls-on-winter-solstice/?ncid=webmail

It falls on the same day I set forth to the wild, untamed wilderness of Punta Gorda, Florida!  An unspeakably bad omen the Moon shall be destroyed on the height of heathen holidays! I fear for our lives.

Share Events in the past that happened today!  Be sure to have a minimum of the event, its repercussions and one picture (or painting).

Today, on November 9th, 1938, Ernst von Rath died from the gunshot wounds inflicted on him by Jewish Resistance Fighter Herschel Grynszpan.  His assassination was used as an excuse to start Kristallnacht, or Night of Broken Glass, where Jews were attacked, synagogues were destroyed, homes were burned, businesses were looted, and people were killed.

Modding / A Little of Everything
« on: 31-10-2010, 19:10:45 »

Hello and welcome back to another update of No Man’s Land. For today’s update, we have many new things, just for you.

The Battle of Cantigny, fought on 28 May 1918, the second day of the great German offensive, was the first American offensive of World War I. The 28th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. 1st Infantry Division (3,564 troops), under Major-General Robert Lee Bullard, captured the village of Cantigny from the German Eighteenth Army commanded by von Hutier. The village was situated on high ground surrounded by woods, making it an ideal target for German artillery.

Aiding the capture, the French provided air cover, 368 heavy guns, trench mortars, and flamethrowers. The advancing American infantry was aided by twelve French Schneider tanks used to eliminate German machine gun posts. With this support, and advancing much more audaciously than expected, the 28th Infantry took the village in 45 minutes.

For three days after the capture of the village, the Germans launched heavy counterattacks upon the Americans. Another regiment, the 26th Infantry, came forward to support the 28th. The position was held.

The Americans expanded their front by approximately a mile. A minor success, its significance was overshadowed by the battle underway along the Aisne. The U.S. forces held their position with the loss of 1,067 casualties; they captured 100 German prisoners. Matthew B. Juan, a Native American war hero, was killed during this battle. The American success at Cantigny was followed by attacks at Château-Thierry and Belleau Wood in the first half of June.

And finally, The Renault FT 17 or Automitrailleuse à chenilles Renault FT modèle 1917 was a French light tank; it is among the most revolutionary and influential tank designs in history. The FT 17 was the first tank with an armament in a fully rotating turret, and its configuration with the turret on top, engine in the back and the driver in front became the conventional one, repeated in most tanks until today; at the time it was a revolutionary innovation, causing armour historian Steven Zaloga to describe the type as "the world's first modern tank."

What is your political Affiliation?
I refuse to associate with a Party as partisanship is destroying this nation, but I am more liberally/libertarian inclined.

Modding / Addressing the Community
« on: 25-09-2010, 20:09:00 »
For the past few weeks, we have been working hard both on and off our computers.  As we all know, the school season has started, and that means there's much less time for development, which is the main reason there hasn't been an update in a while.  The majority of the team is in High School, which is very demanding of time, especially when members of the team are involved with extracurricular activities.  Keep in mind that because there will not be an update for a while, but that is NOT because we are dead.  We are as vibrant as ever, we just have less development time.  Please do not think this mini-mod is dead.
To appease our fanbase and keep interest alive, I have prepared a little eye candy for you.

That's all for now, please discuss this on our official website (complete with forums!)  http://nmlmod.forum-motion.com/forum.htm
