A destroyed Red Army convoy in Finland.

Wasn't the quad-Maxim just added to FH2?

Do you think anyone ever actually hit a plane with one of these things?

I'm a bit late but had to come back for this. Ten fucking years, who could've imagined. Due to nostalgia I'm even playing again after several years.

Who of my favourite people are still alive?

It had a weird plot with parts that were completely unnecessary and didnt matter at all for the end result. It had the similar "bigger is better" mentality what The Force Awakens did, which I thought was complete bollocks to begin with. And too many really lame jokes... just, too many...
I haven't even decided if I will bother seeing it yet. I thought the Force Awakens was rubbish.

So will this updated version be added in a future patch? After all the most iconic bolt action rilfe of the war deserves some warm treatment and i really like how it looks in the video.
But the Lee-Enfield already looks fine.

How were surrendering tank crews generally treated? In the First World War, it seems the Germans often summarily executed captured tankers. Was this repeated to any extent in the Second World War in the fighting between the Germans and the Western Allies?

In other news... I stole a bike today. I friend got her bike stolen a week ago. I was minding my own business and found the same bike locked with it's unrightful owner inside a building, maximum five meters away with visual to the bike. After confirming 100% match, I took it and booked it. It was locked so I had to carry it. I got really paranoid and prayed to God that the usurper did not see I restole the bike. It was an incredible adrenaline rush. I understand why kleptomaniacs becomes addicted to stealing.

Don't worry, stealing bikes is good now.

I need to get back into this as well.

Does anyone else like to play the scenarios? I especially like the Spanish Civil War and early war ones. It seems there are not many Pacific War ones, though.

I read a fantastic book this week that is recommended for any FH fan.

The Unwomanly Face of War: An Oral History of Women in World War II, by Svetlana Alexievich.

Despite the title, this is only a history of Soviet women at war. Alexievich spent decades interviewing female veterans of the Great Patriotic War about their experiences. It is an oral history, so each chapter deals with a theme, and then lets the veterans speak for themselves. There is a chapter about joining the army after Operation Barbarossa, a chapter about women who fought on the frontline, a chapter about women who served in logistical units behind the rear, etc.

It is a fantastic book and one I really enjoyed; I breezed through it in a day despite being 320 pages. It was also a very melancholy read - although many of these women spoke about camaraderie at the front, universallye they report being treated poorly after returning from the war. The idea that women didn't "belong in war" meant they were essentially forgotten, viewed as unmarriable, etc. A shocking number live in poverty by themselves because no one wanted to marry a woman who had fought during the war.

This is a great read for anyone interested in WW2 history. If you have read lots of memoirs and veteran accounts, I would encourage you to check out these women's to see a different side of the story. Yet one thing that the book made clear to me was that gendered distinctions about whether women can be soldiers or not are rubbish. Clearly all these women were.

Is the lettering on the Churchill tank meant to look a bit like "Ts4ever"?

I don't like to fly, and they feel very clustered and a bit silly to me. I might like them, however, if pilots would wait for gunners to get into their planes before they take off! I like being the gunner but no one ever waits!  >:(

Ditto for the CMP Midway. I enjoy it for about 15 minutes and then find it a bit of a drag. But then again I love the Africa maps so maybe I am not exactly representative  ;D

They do not show up in these documents because they count as ammunition, not a weapon. So basically, they gave out as many as they had and as many as could be carried.

Thanks. These are very intersting posts. It makes me realize how much media has over-representented submachine-guns and other automatic weapons in WW2. It also usually depicts squads five guys and a sergeant which looks like is not the case at all.
