The Forest is an open world survival horror game currently in development for PC.

You survive in a planecrash. you land in a forest. You must survive.
build a camp, scavenge food & whatever to stay alive! Stay warm with fire, survive changing wheatre patterns ETC
Plants grow & die, Animals are like animals and there is also a clan of genetic mutated enemies that wanna chop you and brutally devour you alive

The forest has recieved steam greenlight and the first version will be out around a month

The world
Enter a living, breathing forest with changing weather patterns, plants that grow and die. Tides that roll in and out with the day/night cycle. Below ground explore a vast network of caves and underground lakes.

Complete player freedom
Chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. Scavenge food to keep yourself from starving. Find and plant seeds to grow food.

Build a small shelter or a large ocean side fortress. decorate your home with found items. Lay traps and defenses to keep a safe perimeter.

Gameplay
Explore and build during the day. Defend your base at night. Craft weapons and tools.Bunker down during the evening or bring the fight directly to the enemy.

Fight or Hide
Use stealth to evade enemies, or engage them directly with crude weapons built from sticks and stones.

And here i tought my PS3 was a waste of money. But i am very pumped up for this game. I am reading reviews here and i know i am just gonna love this game.

What i am about to suggest has been going around the forums before. Not just by me, but by others aswel. We all know the finnish are incoming. Minus the mosin nagant, we know the finnish used 2 other bolt action rifles in combat

100 000 7.35x51mm Modello 38 Carcano's (wich were hated)
And 135 000 Swedish mauser rifles and carbines (wich were well liked)

So what is this swedish mauser? Well its a Model 93 mauser rifle modified by the Swedes, wich was there main rifle from 1894 to well into the 1960's-70s. The last Swedish mausers were retired from the home guard several years ago(to much anger of the home guard)

But sweden was neutral you may say? well yes.
And no

Despite huge public outrage, King Gustav V decided NOT to send troops to support finland in the winter war.
However, the swedish raised a 'volunteer unit'. 8000 Swedes and their rifles fought in finland. Sweden also sended a first batch of 77 500 m96 rifles to finland wich were deemed "surplus" (they were actually intended to become M38 short rifles)
Sweden later sended another batch of rifles, and when the Swedish volunteers were forced to go home, they 'forgot"' there rifles.

In total the Finnish recieved 135 000 Swedish mauser rifles and carbines, 357 heavy Machine guns and 450 light machine guns. Aswel as over 50 million rounds of ammo.

These swedish mausers were used by frontline units. However by 1943 they were slowly being assigned to second and third line troops. It was well liked by troops because of its excellent accuracy and rugged reliability in cold weathre. It was also liked by marksmen but disliked for its long lenght (Simo Hayha being one, he rejected a scoped m/96 because it was 1.45 meters long with bayonet and he was 1.51 meters)


Its a rifle that saw heck-alot more use then lets say, the M1917, so it can fit into FH2. However, it is not a priority weapon. However should there be some dev who has nothing to do, he can make this rifle

Only 250 carbines were sended towards Finland. As you can see, its quite the lenghty weapon. Yet lighter then most WW2 bolt action rifles.

Anyone played this game?
Im still finishing up bioshock 1 and 2 before i can play the new one. I am so far very impressed by this game. Especially the artwork and story.

Anyone who has been playing this who can give me a quick score?

a book i have. Backbone of the wehrmacht=The German K98k rifle 1934-1945 by Richard D. Law
is pretty much a bible regarding the refinement of the mauser system=the K98k
(This book explains litterly everything, even the manufacturing process, markings...Everything..)
It is known that the sight hood, together with the heavy cupped buttplate were first introduced in 1940. By 1942+ Most k98k's produced had such things. Pre 1942 K98"s did not always had these features and pre 1940"s especially sometimes never got them

However it is written here, aswel as other books, that not every german soldier was satisfied with the sight hood. For some it obstructed the sight while for other it did not. Some soldiers therefor, simply removed the sight hood. This is an easy process by just using tweezers. Often they would remove the hood right before battle and would re-attach the hood when on leave, garrison or a break during fighting.

I have never had problems with the K98k without the sight hood in NA. but firing the k98k WITH sight hood has always been a bit of a problem for me. And firing the K98k at the range also showed this problem. My K98k is a russian capture, so sight hood and cleaning rod were removed. I have a spare set of sight hoods but i dont attach them aswel. So i can fully understand the wehrmacht soldier in WW2.


So basicly, what i would suggest, is that some kits in late war maps, be equipped with the K98k WITHOUT the sight hood.

This is star wars first assault. An almost completed predecessor of Battlefront 3. If this small 8 vs 8 game was well recieved by fans, lucasarts would then make a serious go for Battlefront 3 (With this time a serious budget and such, to compete with other shooters)


Atleast..that was the plan. When Disney took over Lucasarts, all Hiring and game announchments were frozen(in september). What will the future do with this game? I hope they will release it as the screenshots look dam impressive.
