I was lucky that all that crap happened last week which gave me a chance to pre-order somewhere else. However I'm not a jammy bastard like Tedacious and still waiting for the crap royal mail to put it through my door. No doubt, it'll come while I'm working and I'll have to sign for it, so I'll get one of those "sorry we missed you" cards instead argh.

Totally pumped for ME3 can imagine the rage Tedacious when you realised you ordered the wrong copy, glad to see it ended well for you :). Normally when it comes to big releases I never bother with pre-orders, I'll just pop into the local gamestation and usually pick up a copy of whatever. But I really like the Mass Effect series it has to be in my top five all time greatest.

ME3 is the first game I have ever felt compelled to pre-order, especially after seeing the collectors edition so beginning of January I drool a little bit at the poster in shop and pre-order it. Skipping out with glee and feeling a bit uppity with my fancy edition pre-ordered I count down the days to release when last week I happen to check them internets and I see this.

I then get a text from the store confirming that I will have to come in and cancel the pre-order as there will be no game to collect the following week FFFFUUUUUUUUCCCK!

German tank crew cleaning the gun barrel of their Panzer III with the wiper and rod somewhere in the desert. This would have to be done daily to remove carbon build up in the barrel from heavy use.

The way you can tell it's a Charioteer is by the Blank plate covering up where the hull machine gun was and the fishtail exhausts at the back. As for how it got there and who was using it I don't know tbh. Corvax is this a practice range you visit? Or is it an area for practice manoeuvres? and please keep the pics coming, I love derelict/abandoned stuff like this.

No.1 - Charioteer, its a post war tank destroyer that used recycled cromwell chassis and mounted a 20 pounder

No.2 - PTS-M, Russian amphibious transporter

No.3 - Centurion AVRE

No.4 - Centurion AVLB, minus the Bridge bit  :P

That's an interesting mix whereabouts is this training ground?

General Discussion / Re: Your epic fail in FH1/FH2!

Playing Sidi Rezegh on hslan last night, me & my squad were defending the blockhouse from the german team when I got killed. Respawned at the nearest brit main with a squad mate and hopped in a bren carrier to get back to blockhouse. On the way we spot a kubel lulz squad that had been driving around mining unsuspecting tanks, so I say to my driver go! go! go! I'll shoot the buggers before they get another one!

Cue benny hill music and kubel driving round in circles with a bren carrier chasing it. Could I hit them? Could I F***, in my frustration I went to reload manually with the R key and hit the E key instead *facepalm* Left in the middle of the desert with a kubelwagon followed by a bren carrier dissappearing into the fog of FH with me on voip yelling wait! stop! I..uh..Fell out, come back and get me!

If anyone has any books or films they'd recommend on the topic I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. I've read a few books on Rommel and the battles of Alamein but they tend to focus more on the overall strategy or grand tactics more so than the experience of the common soldier.

Thanks!

Alamein to Zem Zem by Keith douglas is worth a read. He was an officer in the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry serving in africa & normandy where he was killed a couple of days after D-day. Quite an interesting character, when he joined his regiment he got a posting to some backwater place in Palestine which he wasn't too happy about. Frustrated with the lack of action he 'borrowed' a truck and made his own way to the frontline, found his CO and got a tank in one of the squadrons just in time for the second battle of El alamein. Good book if you're looking for something with a soldiers perspective of the desert war.

Suggestions / Re: Better AA

Why are static weapons showing up empty on the minimap? I cant remember them showing up in vanilla BF2 so why do they show up in FH2? Are they classed as vehicles or something? That is a big give away to vehicles that a stationary gun is in use, just check the minimap and if there's no icon you know it's manned. Plane/Tank can plan ahead static guy just has to react, a wee bit unfair imo.
