General Discussion / Re: RiP ArminAce
« on: 28-08-2021, 12:08:43 »
I didn't know ArminAce and I must admit I've never played FH1, but my condolences! From what I read here, I don't think FH2 would've been where it is today without the efforts you put in FH1.

And Chad too? Makes me so sad :(. I loved his animation work.

What a loss - and in such a short time :(

You might want to get an SSL certificate installed on PlayFH2. Better for Google ranking, plus Chrome doesn't mark it as "unsafe" anymore. If your site uses cPanel, you should be able to get free certificates from there. Otherwise you can also use Let's Encrypt.

As long as you only have client side changes, it should be fine. So talking about texture changes mostly.
I suppose you could use a different weapon model (as long as you only change the bundledmesh, not the collisionmesh), but the animations most likely won't fit, so you'll end up with really weird results.

Animations, weapon tweaks (ammo changes, reload speeds and the likes), vehicle tweaks, etc. are all server side. You won't be able to join a server if you have those kind of changes.

If you want to do any modding, I'd stick with changing textures only.

Cool domain name :).

Not that I know. Some PR:WW2 devs are part of the Post Scriptum team though (Arc Shielder and Ratface).

Squad team has a bunch of former PR developers, including Chuc, who made most of the PR animations back in the day. The animation style you see in Squad is very similar to what you see in PR because of this. Level design and gameplay is similar as well, with people like Merlin (formerly known as Sniperdog) and IronTaxi in the team - and now Fuzzhead as well.

It works OK for me.
Did you change the clientarchives.con file?

Suggestions / Re: NEW MAP/FACTION SUGGESTION - FEB BRAZIL
« on: 28-02-2018, 14:02:30 »
Just to be clear: I'm not a FH2 developer and I don't know how FH2 handles community factions, but I can imagine it being something like this:

Creating a new faction isn't an easy task. In fact, it's a hell of a job to make it actually good. The devs already have their hands full on FH2 alone, so if you want to see the FEB, I'd suggest you put a team together of people that are willing (and know how!) to mod. Then create/reskin soldiers, kits, weapons and vehicles.

You're also going to need voices. Something tells me Portugese voices already exist in the BF2 world somewhere, but I'm not sure.

And last but certainly not least: maps. Make sure you have at least two maps or so? Those maps need to be of good quality, otherwise they'll never make it to FH2.

If the faction isn't top notch quality, I'm pretty sure it won't make FH2. You'd have a better chance of the faction being incorporated into "CMP" or so.

General Discussion / Re: Unofficial Complete FH2 Installer
« on: 27-02-2018, 14:02:25 »
Love the initiative, great job! This will surely help to get new players on board quickly :).

Does this come with the FH2 launcher as well? I can't remember if that was part of the FH2 installer, since it's been installed for so long now :D.

I don't mind CMP maps being part of the installer. If anything, new players have them by default, so whatever server they join, it'll just work, which I think is the greatest benefit here.

Anyway, something you could potentially consider is to also include the CMP Updater (or whatever it's called), with which you can update the CMP maps and some custom content. That's obviously beyond the scope of your original idea, but something to perhaps think about.

Thanks again for the initiative, I will surely use this to convince people to start playing FH2 ;).

What I like about HLL is the way you have to capture areas, it's more similar to how Company of Heroes did it. I wonder how that'll play out in an FPS. Looking forward to both HLL and PS!

No problem, was probably just some typo somewhere :). Glad it works!
if you don't want to use it anymore, simply remove the fonts_custom.zip and it'll be fine.

You might want to open the clientarchives.con with a proper text editor, like Notepad++ or EditPlus or the likes. Or even Wordpad, that would probably work as well ;).

I take it you're opening it with Notepad, which doesn't always show breaklines correctly. I guess that's where the error comes from.
