Hi there!

A couple of month ago I bought the Soundblaster-Z. Since then I sometimes have troubles with the sound.
When I set the settings to "Creative X-Fi" and EAX on, I get a permanent strong reverb effect ingame. It sounds like playing in a cathedral all the time and the sounds come from all 5 speakers at the same time.
When I switch from "Creative X-Fi" to "Hardware" the reverb effect is gone and everything sounds normal, but then I only get stereo sound. Another strange thing is, that it worked yesterday (with X-Fi setting) but today it suddenly has the reverb effect again.  ???
My speaker setting in windows is 5.1.
Had anybody else this problem? Should I change any of the config files manualy? If so, which one?

Seems damaging to the eyes. You know, never sit to close to the TV?
I don't think I'd like to have something like this strapped to my head.

There are lenses build into the goggles which let the screen appear to be at an infinite distance. So when you look through them it is like you whatch something that is at the horizon. The muscles in your eyes are relaxed when focusing on distant objects.

A more serious problem seems to be that people tend to get nauseated when the movement of their head does not exactly fit the movement of what they see or in other words the movement of the camera in the 3D scene.
The version of their goggles they used for the presentations did only detect the angles of your head but not the position which made some testers sick when they shiftet their head to the sides or up and down. It is planned to add more sensors to the device for detecting shifts as well to tackle this problem. They also try to optimize it for low latencies and precise motion tracking to reduce these problems.

They emphasize that the device is not yet ready for the consumer market, but nevertheless the vast majority of people who try it out are thrilled. Among them are the guys at Valve, Epic Games and as mentioned before Id-Software with notorious VR-geek John Carmack. They all plan to support the device in future games and the API of the goggles is already used in the Unreal 3 engine. (The demos they show are made with the Unreal engine)

I am really looking forward to try it out.

Well we will see about that.... They say that the advantage is that it covers all of your field of vision which removes the feeling of sitting in front of a screen. I just ordered the developer kit. I will tell you more about it when it arrives.

Just whatch the response of the press people who try it out. I liked it when the one guy said he no longer is waiting for the  xbox 360 and ps4  ;D

They all get addicted immediatly. I really need to try to buy one of those developer kits.   :o  :o  :o
And when it comes out  fh2 must be one of the first games to support it  ;)

No my onboard card is deaktivated in the BIOS. The one that I used when it did not work, was an asus xonar d2x. Now I am using the creative soundblaster z. But sadly it only has 5.1 channels while the xonar has 7.1 and my goal was to record 5.1 sound and 7.1 sound for a demo and than directly compare it. But maybe 7.1 can not be recorded by fraps.  :(

@LHeureux:
I want 5.1 or 7.1 sound not stereo. But thanx anyway   :)

@NTH:
Here is what I set in Fraps:

When I try to play the recorded avi with VLC-player I get an error message that the audio format is not supported. When I record in stereo I don't get an error, but the sound doesn't work either.
Do I need the full version of fraps for this? What player do you use to play the avi files?

Edit:
It worked when I used another soundcard and windows media player. Not sure which was the thing that made it work. I will check it out tomorrow.

Hi dudes...

I want to record the multi-channel sound (at least 5.1) that I hear when I play FH2. Is that possible and if yes, do you know any free or unfree software that will do this?
A quick google search did not yield any results so I thought the video recording guys here might know the answer.
I want to do this so I can directly compare between diffrent driver and speaker settings and maybe post the results here in the forums.

Your help will be apreciated

Edit:
I tried Fraps, but the sound on the videos does not work. In stereo mode it is just silent and with the multi-channel button checked I VLC-player gives me an error message.

General Discussion / Re: 64+ Opinions

All in all I think that the 64+ thing is good for fh2. I am always happy when I see that I can play with more than 64 players.

I like the current tank system better than the old one. The only thing that feels wrong to me is the power of the 88mm gun on middle ranges (200m). IMO it still should 1s1k a sherman or cromwell at this distance. But in general I like it that you have a chance to survive longer in the weaker tanks.

Gotta ask about Neukölln! I'm close to an apartment there, around Hermannplatz. I've heard that Neukölln is kinda unsafe, and generally a boring area. Would you agree about that?

Well first of all unsafe -> interesting, safe -> boring   ;)

I guess it is not as safe as Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain, but compared to american standards it is as safe as the kindergarden you grew up in.

Fun aside, my girlfriend used to live in Neukölln, so I spend some time there and I never had any problems besides the usual beggars you will find all over Berlin. But on the other hand, a flatmate of mine, got mugged while riding the subway. Seven guys demanded his purse and phone, and when he refused to give it away, they hit him in the face and took his stuff anyway. By the way, that happended close to the above mentioned "Herrmannsplatz".

But at least I can assure you that it is not boring. You have the oriental flair that comes with all the turks and arabs + you find a lot of students (and student parties) there because of the cheap prices. So lets say the students are making the pioneer work to make the thing a "in" quarter and when the prices rise they move on to the next cheap quarter. Thats what happend in the three other quarters I mentioned above.
But If you are old enough that you want it more quiet and peaceful, I would not recommend Neukölln.

Also be advised that the interesting part of Neukölln is the part, that sits within the borders of the "Ringbahn" (the circle-liked shaped subway track, that you can find on the map). It is in general a good idea to find a place within this circle, because it takes ages to get to the "important" places from outside this ring.

Is Berliner Weisse still commonly drunk?

I am not sure if it ever was commonly drunk or if it just got its fame from the headache it causes  ;)
But yes it is still available. Just learned a couple of days ago, that the Berliner Weisse tastes is diffrent to other "Weizenbier" (wheat beer) because it has some lactid acid producing bacteria in it.

Yes Karlshorst has a nice map of "Ansatz Barbarossa"  ;D
Also a few soviet tanks (the usual suspects).

If you are looking for a cheap and exciting district, I recommend the northern part of "Neukölln" , the little Istambul of Berlin. A lot of the students move there, because the other parts are getting more and more expensive.

I wish you all the best for your relocation. ( And get a descent computer you disciple of Steve Jobs  ;) )

Thanks for your efforts and fare thee well!

Yeah good old half life.... It was one of the games that got me hooked on multiplayer fps games. Don't remember it having so few polygones though  ::)

Couldn't really see much in the video, but the fh2 map has no shermans and priests or bishops or whatever they where. But I would not be surprised if the video was inacurate...

Thank you for teaching me a lesson in geography. Until now I did not even know that there is a nation called gabon....
