Living my whole life here I kinda found it a neat fact that we (the state of Maine) have the least amount of Christians.  From my experience living here I would say the least of all religious types (including the atheist religion) applies as well.  Since anything involving religion on here goes off like a powder keg I will just let the link do its work.

BTW, no thanks Mudra. Currently I'm not looking for a change from Buddhism anyway. It is under fire after a couple of "happen to be a Buddhist" mud farmers from Burma/Myanmar burned, probably raped, and massacred a village full of Rohingya Muslims. It is good to know that Muslims returned to their usual behavior of always bringing the religious issue to the table when the actual cause of the conflict is territorial and typical Indochinese xenophobia (Rohingya is a kind of Bangladeshi aliens in Burma land).

Sometimes, religion is the main course for some people who really don't have a life.

BTW, the effects of US Christianity to my life is pretty significant. Last few years, there is this hip thing about "anointing oil" FTW campaign. So, some reverends from the US of A brought some crazy literal Bible interpretation here and scream hysterically almost in every sermon. They pretty much draw big crowds from charismatic churches. But it irked many of the conservatives. Now people choose to cure illness, depression, and many other real problems by purchasing that blessed "anointing oil." Sometimes I preach Gospel to people according to my knowledge (6 years of Roman Catholic inquisition + 6 years of Calvinist indoctrination), and the whole "anointing oil" from some US reverends is pretty abusive IMO. But you gotta love the money man!

Well, allow me to explain my opinion.

The last months, in the now democratic states of Egypt, Lybia and IIRC Tunisia as well, more radical islamic figures have taken over control. The fighting of radical islamic groups have, for now, been relatively contained in the middle east...

For the next part of reasoning, we need a W-euro country, Belgium for example. In Belgium there are more than a million foreigners. Large amounts of those are muslims. These days, the muslim youth is becoming increasingly intolerant to the native society and its law, but in Belgium, law is a joke. This gave rise to organisations such as Sharia4Belgium. It has been accused of supposed terrorist funding, calling for hate, racism etc. I bet, that's not the only organisation, and we don't know its actual size of members.

Now, you may call me paranoid, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if, when that war would break out, we would also have fighting going on, on our very doorstep, by members of such groups.

We have been a place for tolerant people, but now there is an apparent increase in fundamentalism. It is very attractive to the youth because they provide a lot of radical and violent answer to the frustrated generation.

Some Sheik with a lot of oil money tries to win some territory of influence across the globe. We are just some of the targets.

Let's get one thing straight: I am not saying that every muslim is a terrorist. I admit, the proportions sketched can very well be off, I am no expert on Belgian foreign population. It's just an opinion based on my experiences, but that doesn't take away that fifth columns are a very real possibility. If one of those guys from Sharia4Belgium has a similar weapons stash as Nordine Amrani, the guy that rampaged the Liege Christmas fair with hand grenades and an assault rifle, I don't know what the consequences will be.
