I just hope Europe will cut the bridge as quick as possible so Europe can go forward to rebuild unity and a social union.

About immigration, i don't think people understand that now UK will have to deal with immgrants on its own soil

Congratulations to Brits!

I can't wait to see the bloated, globalist, bureaucratic, powerhungry, megalomanic monster to come crashing down.

Well leaving the EU is the first step, now we let nature take its course and the imperialistic remnant shall perish soon enough.

Yes, EU isn't perfect. They force you to buy noxious diesel for carbon curbing, and it was the gleeful American university folks who tried to prove European's ingenuity that discovered European snobishness and stupidity.

I was glad that they receive a big slap in the face, Juncker, Tusk, and the arrogant lot. Never agreed to such protectionism and another patronising world morale police. I do hope the fringe right wing side really showed them, that they shouldn't be running a worldwide self-promoting charity drama show.

And now, let's punish the UK by tearing down their economy and territory. Starting from BMW pulling out the Rolls Royce and Mini, waving good bye to Oxford. Then EADS out of Bristol and Chester altogether. Let's discount this European financial middle man from the world's secondary language from our financial system by dismantling the RBS, Standard Chartered, Barclay's, and HSBC's establishment from the rest of the world. Let's see how much Boris Johnson's claim stack up to this. Exitting for the wrong reason is still wrong. They'll see how much the outside world has given them.

Feel a little sick right now about Brexit.  Honestly crushed by the vote.  Already calls for Scotland independence ref. take 2, and a United Ireland referendum.
I think Merkel trying to force her refugee policy on the whole Union is also to blame. Now the Brexit supporters could use the fear of uncontrolled immigration for their campaign.

Definitely not a good thing losing Europes 2nd largest economy. I just hope Germany doesn´t gain more power in consequence and even more people are getting pissed.

The greater fear is that of more EU referenda in the rest of the EU.  And if we're talking recrimination, I blame David Cameron most, and also Jeremy Corbyn and the Welsh, who perversely voted Leave and shot themselves in the foot even more than everyone else.

Yeah, well. Fear does a lot of weird things to people. It makes them elect idiots, vote crazy stuff in referendums, etc.

I feel sorry for the British youth, they got f*cked by their (grand)parents.

Look, someone had to do it. The EU needs to change. It has become slow to adapt and overly bureaucratic (does anyone remember those laws about proper shape of imported bananas and length of cucumbers? Ridiculous!). Most of the big issues (such as immigration problems) do not get solved and end up in petty squabbles or Germany dictating everyone else. The only thing current EU is good for is their own functionaries pockets and big businesses bottom lines.

Sad to see the Brits commiting seppuku on their economy (most of the manufacturing jobs are long gone, and now many service jobs opened by the Euro and international companies might be on the way out), but by destroying their own future, they might have saved ours.

One thing is sure, hard times filled with uncertainty lie ahead for everyone.

What Europe needs is better PR. The naysayer are good in pointing out the meaningless little rules that makes the EU a laughing stock. While those rules has zero negative effect on everyday peoples life.

They should point out the things that makes everyone life better, without the knee-jerk reflex on the ease of trade and economy. Peace, stability and yeah prosperity. No wars between EU countries for 70 years now. Two whole generations that not have seen millions die.

They should also work on getting it more democratic, but I reckon if they go they way of getting an elected EU Parliament this will freak out even more conservatives, as this would mean getting a more political Union.

I am a firm believer that you get more done within a group then alone, even though it not easy getting a whole team or organization working effectively in the begin phase. Realize that the Union is relatively young in the light of history and like everything else it either flourish or gets nip in the bud  :)

Now the British can start complaining about the bureaucrats in Downing street again instead of Brussels ;)

LOL, read this
What Europe needs is better PR. The naysayer are good in pointing out the meaningless little rules that makes the EU a laughing stock. While those rules has zero negative effect on everyday peoples life.

Everyone shouting out that "real problems" like immigration are not taken care of at all has no sense of reality. Immigration has been there for centuries and it wll never change. Heck, the USA would not have been like today without immigration. Being afraid of it is dumb and shortsighted.

In fact, the Brexiters now calling yesterday "The Day of Independence" makes them the laughing stock for me. It is so backward I can't really believe it, I thought by now the British would have realised that their world empire is over (it has been for over 60 years now, but some people take a while to get used to new situations). But oh no, they want their "independence" back.

And what makes it even more ridiculous, is that they don't want to leave immediately, but they want to take it easy and spend some years negotiating with EU. Now where is the logic in that? I'm really curious how the demagogues will explain this to their supporters.

There is hope however, when all these conservative reactionaries have died, the new generation can happily join again.

I agree that being afraid of it is dumb and shortsighted. If anything Europe needs immigrants else it will slowly die out in a few centuries. Most of the people coming are young and while their culture is different, they can be successfully integrated because they do genuinely want a better life for themselves, something they just couldn't build in the culturally and religiously conservative countries they come from.

The problem is that every country has a completely different view on it. There is no "union" in the European Union. And then you have countries proclaiming they will take anyone they can (such as Germany) and others threatening to shoot anyone who tries to enter (such as Hungary). And countries bouncing immigrants back and forth that claim that they do not mind immigrants, as long as they "stay off their lawns".

There needs to be a joint policy and there needs to be a vetting process, to eventually allow the most progressive people to stay in the EU permanently. But the EU does not need more minority ghettos where the disenfranchised youth will spend their days causing problems because nobody cares about them, and they do not care about anyone else who is different. And the people need to be educated (not just the immigrants, but the native Europeans too, to better get along with the newcomers).

They also complained that they are becoming less and lesser British. Losing cultural identity to non-British Europeans?

Well, nobody in the EU (or the rest of the world) complained when they are forced to use English. It robs us of our cultural identity, especially our language... pot calling the kettle back.

The stereotypically snobbish French gladly accepted a Corsican Italian descendant as their emperor and proudly emblazoned their history books with his achievements. Heck, the Germans even repeatedly elected furious Austrian leaders to ruin their country.

Wouldn't the British be glad that a vengeful bunch of Poles and Czechs defended their airspace alongside the other nations from marrauding Goering's air force? How about the dependable, rough, and tough bunch of elite Nepalese and northern Indian soldiers?

In Jakarta at least, British embassy is now located in Setiabudi regency. The regency named after Indonesian national hero, which is an Indonesian-born Dutch German named Danudirja Setiabudi (Ernest Douwes Dekker). If we were so xenophobic then, nobody would have taught us the concept of "nationhood", if it werent a bunch of sympathising Dutch and Dutch-educated locals.

Oh in case of USA: Steve Jobs's biological father is Syrian born, Elon Musk is from South Africa, Satya Nadella (Microsoft's CEO) is from India. If nobody migrates to USA, they won't have Boeing (German), Bell (Scotland), Tesla (Serbian), and the lot. Practically wiping off more than 50% of their DJIA companies.

Self-inadequacy leads to xenophobia, really.

Agreed, but since wanting this seems quite utopian, we have to work with the next best thing.

Also agreed, this would be nice to implement, but I think it might scare off new countries to join, and while it was attrractive enough to join in the past due to econimical advantages, the attraction is not as strong today, so if EU wants more members, they should not raise the barrier too high.
