Something wrong with my computer screen
« on: 13-06-2011, 22:06:48 »
Every 5 seconds, the picture is distorted, lines appear in the middle of the picture and the entire picture seems to vibrate. It looks like something between this: and this:
It only lasts a split second but I would like to know what is wrong with my screen.

With my expertise I can tell you what's wrong with it..

..it's broken!

You did check the VGA cable, if it sits solid in both (screen and computer) ports?

It's a laptop.

Either a wire is damaged, the videocard might be overheating or have been damaged, but maybe it is the screen itself. Could be everything. Could easily be a total loss as well. However, you wont enjoy using it this way.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom

Isn't the common way to fix a laptop just to send it back to where you bought it?

Your videocard is overheating. Check the fans for dust.
Since it's a laptop check all air in and out takes for dust.

It looks like your RAM is messed up, I mean I had the same streaks across my screen when I attempted to install two different MHz amounts of RAM onto the same Machine, removed the lesser of the two, and it was fixed.

Yes, the VGA seems to run out of internal memory and overheated.

Get a better VGA card.

Cable problem is less likely to cause something like this. Most of the times the screen will just blank out or "no signal" if the cable brokes.
