Suggestions / P14 (Unscoped)
« on: 07-03-2018, 16:03:35 »
It is interesting that the P-14 sniper rifle in the British service also used without the scope. The M1917 is basically a P-14 but unscoped. Were there ever thoughts of making vise versa available to both factions. For example, brits get P14 as a pickup or maybe NCO kit, while the yanks get the scoped one for early war maps as an alternative to springfield?

General Discussion / The Players of FH2
« on: 23-04-2017, 10:04:29 »
This thread is for discussion about our fellow players, since Flippy let us know:
Sorry fellas, Im afraid this thread isnt for this kind of talk. If you want to discuss your fellow players, then please do it elsewhere.  :)
You can talk about anything related to players and their tactics, as long as there is no flaming
Lets continue the discussion:

He is also a great SL, and may be the new Cpt Mike.

New Cpt. Mike? This guy was the original 'annoy everyone on the server with his MLG aiming skills.' ;D before him maybe only DazLayer had pissed off more people.

Cpt. Mike is also well known for playing in the lowest graphic settings just to get an edge over anyone else (no undergrowth, IIRC). That, and insulting other players that he thinks have a lower skill than himself... and in german, because he apparently doesn't have the guts to do so in plain english so eveyrone can understand him.
I know that and am sometimes pissed angered by that, but also the fact that people call him a cheater is also unacceptable. I agree that he thinks he has the superior skill and everybody is noobs. However there are newer players, such as 0rnstien who are bolder and may trick people. However Cpt. Mike is not a invincible god, and I have to say I killed him many times. FH2 is about teamwork and being at the right place at the right time.

Community Polls / What do you think about POWs in FH2?
« on: 06-04-2017, 19:04:02 »
Rarely, you might encounter a soldier with a bandage yelling "Hold your fire". This actually happend to me personally, as on Supercharge 16, Petrushka was raping us with the P-14. So I decided to surrender and was  taken prisoner by a guy named Ivas Welds. Latter, he was killed in a grenade volley-ball match and I surrendered to the sniper. I could have killed him many times, but you must be truthful. What do you think about POW's in FH2? I am excited to here an answer.

Off-Topic / Fantasy Army MK2 Thread
« on: 06-02-2017, 14:02:57 »
A long time ago, one of our members made a fantasy army thread. I thought about remaking it.
I often daydream about things like "What if Germany had a shitton of T-34's and M1 Garand in 1941" and other stupid things like that. So I invite you to let your creativity run free by creating an army with your custom ordered world war 2-based equipment!

Create whatever type you want. I'll recommend some categories:

-The best equipment list (Classify time period. Early war list or late war list)
-The worst equipment possible list
-Your favorite/swaggiest equipment regardless of efficiency   8)

You don't have to create a WW2 list, if you want to make a Cold war/WW1/Present day list, feel free to do so! ;)

Feel free to add a type of equipment I might have forgotten. If you can't come up with something (like the ship classes) or if you feel it is superfluous (like medium machine guns) just ignore/remove them from your list.

HERE'S THE CODE FOR THE LIST, JUST COPYPASTE IT INTO YOUR POST

Tactics & Tutorials / Volkstrumgwher 45 "The rivet gun"
« on: 26-01-2017, 21:01:40 »
Hi! My name is FH2Max3 and today I will discuss the VG-45, that is available in game as a panzerfaust kit.

But first some historical content:
Quote
The Volkssturmgewehr ("People's Assault Rifle") is the name of several rifle designs developed by Nazi Germany during the last months of World War II. They share the common characteristic of being greatly simplified as an attempt to cope with severe lack of resources and industrial capacity in Germany during the final period of the war.

The weapon's name is an ambiguous portmanteau: in German Gewehr means "rifle", whereas Sturmgewehr means "assault rifle". The term "Volkssturmgewehr" can therefore be translated either as "People's Assault Rifle" or "Volkssturm Rifle".

The Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr was designed by Karl Barnitzke of the Gustloff-Werke for the Primitiv-Waffen-Programm ("primitive weapons program") in 1944 and was intended to be used by the Volkssturm. Production of the Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr occurred from January 1945 till the end of the war; roughly 10,000 were made.

This gun was initially called MP 507. The MP 508 was fairly similar except it had a semi-pistol grip stock.

The weapon employed the same 7.92×33mm Kurz intermediate cartridge as the earlier StG 44 assault rifle and also used the same detachable 30-round box magazine.

The Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr uses a gas-delayed blowback action based on the Barnitzke system, whereby gas bled from the barrel near the chamber creates resistance to the rearward impulse of the operating parts, which ceases when the projectile leaves the muzzle, allowing the operating parts to be forced rearward by the residual pressure of the cartridge case. This principle has been used most successfully in the Heckler & Koch P7 pistol.

The Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr is constructed rather like many semi-automatic pistols, it has a casing and spring around the barrel; the whole casing recoils backward. The breech block, with firing pin and extractor, is pinned to the back end of the barrel casing. The rear end of the gun does not recoil and has the hammer, sear and trigger built into it. Gas coming from four vents, near the end of the barrel, holds the bolt closed till the gas pressure drops to a safe level. Some selective fire Gustloff Volkssturmgewehrs were made.

The Grossfuss Sturmgewehr used the same principle of gas-delayed blowback operation, but it was somewhat more efficient in the use of gas; its bolt weighed 0.8-0.9 kg compared to 1.4 kg in the Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr.

The Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr was assembled out of 39 metallic parts, not counting rivets and screws. Of these specific parts, 12 required milling, 21 could be produced by stamping alone, and 6 were springs.

Testing of a captured Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr at a Soviet GAU shooting range showed that it was rather inaccurate, with 50% of the shots at 100 m landing in a circle with 10.2 cm radius and with 100% of the shots at the same distance landing in a circle with a 19.8 cm radius. At 300 m these the corresponding radii were respectively 25 and 50.3 cm. The fixed sights of the Gustloff Volkssturmgewehr made aiming difficult because the Kurz patrone rose some 29 cm above the sightline at 100 m and dropped 43 cm below it at 300 m

Ok, lets move on to the usage ingame. For those of you looking at a simple answer on what is it, I can give you it: It is a STG-44 jammed on semi-auto mode. But in more detail, the weapon has some crude sights, and a strange noise that resembles a rivet gun. This weapon requires special usage, as at long-range you will likely miss, and at close range, you will likely be out-gunned by smgs. The tactics resemble the ones used by the M1 Carbine. Although the recoil is higher, the bullet is more powerful. Also, don't forget your Panzerfaust 100, which has the longest range of all the single-shot anti tank launchers. This weapon currently is only available as a pickup kit on Seelow heights. However, the VG-45 is very rare among German anti-tank soldiers, who prefer the K-98 over the Volksturm weapons.

« on: 15-01-2017, 11:01:55 »
We already have the KV-1s, the lighter version of the KV-1, but can we have the heavy versions of the KV-1, mod 1942, 1941 and 1940. The FH-1 models look fine, you probably need to retexture them. If I could help I would, but I am useless at texturing. Also FHSW has good models, maybe they will be willing to donate.

Community Polls / Do we need the M2 Carbine?
« on: 15-01-2017, 11:01:47 »
The M2 carbine is the selective-fire version of the M1 carbine capable of firing in both semi-automatic and full-automatic. It fires an intermediate cartridge, like the STG-44. Do we need it? In modeling, it looks like the M1, and was used in street fights. A few were isued to infantry in Brest, the Ardenes, and in the fighting at Hurtgen forest.
