About some models details
« on: 17-09-2011, 16:09:09 »
I have found some errors about details on models of weapons and vehicules.
If it can help you for historical accuracy...

First, the model of the STG44 made by Seth Soldier have an error in the front set. The stock and the marking shows an late MP44/STG44 but have a early MP43 (1) front set. Some photos to explain what I say :

At left, the early MP43 (1) used in FH2, at right the late MP43/44/STG44. Do you see the differences on the barrel, the sight and the flash hider ?

Now it's about the Tiger 131 of the 501st SS Schwere Panzer Abteilung of the 1st Panzer SS Division 'LSSAH". Your model shows a late production tiger, but the 131 was a mid production tiger. And the pattern sheme is not exactly the same. Some photos:

I hope my post can help you, and sorry for my english !

oops sorry wrong smiley used there, it was this one

Master of pain, you could always try to fix this yourself. I am currently trying to learn moddeling aswel to see some stuff in FH2... Its a 0.00005% chance, but hey! Better then nothing!

I tried to model a weapon and to texture it and I have to say, that it is far more work than just changing some parts. You would have to unwrap it completely (don't know, whether you are a littlebit into this stuff, but it is very boring and takes lot of time for such details) and then to retexture the whole weapon. Don't know, whether I am just a noob at modeling/texturing and I'm doing something wrong, but thats just my experience I made so far. Nor would you be able to recognize it really ingame. So I think the chance to see this things changed is quiet low, if not non existend.

I just tried to give him a rough view about, why it is so hard to change the models etc.
I kinda don't like it just to give a "No!" or to troll somebody, because he doesn't really get a clear answer. ;)

mp43/44 will certainly get a refresh when we will introduce the Mkb42.

Kratzer we had discussions about the cammo pattern (Zeltbahn or something like that) on some of the German troops that went very very deep. With that in mind I find this suggestion in line of what you can expect in this forum.

So a good suggestion from MoP, but probably not high on the priority list, but then again you never know.
Edit: What Seth said  :)

Its simple, there are many different Pics out inda Web and you can´t really know the colors or sheme it had.

For exsample this looks mostly different from what you posted.

But i checked our Tiger refs and we having a Workaround of that Camo.
problem is time, a good Camo needs 1-2 days of texturing work if you make it matching very well and even then you can run in trouble with your uv Map if you mirrored something.

This isn´t scale modeling, its a totaly different technic of painting stuff, so why you can´t be happy with a nice Tiger Tank even if his camo sheme isn´t 100%?

Thanks for the good and bad critics.
For those says it's not a priority, I'm totally agreed with this, it's just a suggestion about what I seen, and I know you do a lot of work for us, players.
mp43/44 will certainly get a refresh when we will introduce the Mkb42.
The MBK42 ? Really ? Yeah !!! The MKB42 Walther or Haenel ? I love the Haenel !
For the Tiger, I know the camouflage scheme change between two pics, that why I put a photography. It's just, if the mid. production Tiger will appear with the russian front stuff, I think why don't put them in Normandy ? And I'm very happy of your Tiger, it's the most beautiful tank of the game for me, even if it's not 100% accurate.

Keep the great work !

I'm not really an expert in this section, but could it be the case, that they changed the camouflage of the Tiger from time to time? It seems the only posibility for me, why there are different versions for the same Tiger.
