Also, there are FH2 Game Nights which usually bring together loads of FH old timers and people from these forums who will play together in same squads. While it is still free for all, it is highly endorsed to join squads since theres a great opportunity to play together at least once a month. Also, we always use FH's own TeamSpeak2 so you can be in contact with forum regulars and listen to me rant and bitch when Im being royally owned.

We've got our sixth game night coming around this saturday. Read more at >here<
This aswel. Keep a good lookout for these game nights. They are FANTASTIC to play, and give you views on FH2 you never had before, while not being commiting as those Tourneys.

Bard, varför kollar du inte med oss? DenLedeFi?

Answer in english in short.
Question about clanmembership, my random gaminhours doesn´t make me ideal as member in a clan. I know my limitations. I´m afraid that it would also put me at risk for falling back in my addiction to gaming. After 2 crashed relationships I know better then to risk it. I´m that kind of person that gives it 100%+ when I participate. Not always the best asset it seems :)

I hope I see you and your clanmates on the battlefield.

That actually sounds quite nice when you read it using German, even though it is a bad thing to happen to you.

Anyhow you guessed it: Jag bor i Tyskland.

Can I just add that there are also squad leaders with the "JOO MUSS FOLLOW ME!" zeal that just ruin things.  I joined one squad just the other night, the guy was great at giving orders but he was a fool wasting so much time typing and getting himself fucking killed for stupid things, calling us back to regroup on his rally point when the objective was north of us, why, why, why call us to regroup south....

FFS, I thought, and left his squad, another fucking greenhorn who thinks his WWII books have taught him how to play FH2.
I won't follow someone I see make any mistakes or blunder into a trap, or ass about, and I can see it coming a mile off, I've seen squad leaders walk men into an MG-LOF without even thinking, or drive a sherman fullspeed towards a PzIV that was watching us approach, whilst coaxial gunning it... I've been ordered to defend a point that has not seen any action all map (blockhouse) when assistance was obviously needed somewhere else.

oooo - post 888 coming soon!

It seems, the best players don't like to be SL anyway, how many times have you quit and rejoined a squad to be part of it, just not to lead it... I've done it, I do it a lot, but then I am in a plane most days.

If you find yourself in a squad and you think the leader is a nut, then the best solution is to leave the squad, not following orders i worse.

My objective is to stay alive so the squad has a leader aware of the surroundings and enemys close, also so the members have a place close to objective to spawn. I do not talk all the time, but give, I hope, good information about enemys and what to do. I try not to tell members what not to do, I still believe and hope that common sense brings clarity to most of the soldiers.

Also.. a silly thing happening often is that I as squadleader is in prone position and my members spawn on me only to stand up and shooting.. result. Our perfect hidden spawnpoint is revealed.

Yeah, teamplay (especially in a squad) makes the game so much better. Luckily after playing this for years now I know most teamplayers by name, usually I prefer ending up in the CRAZYHORSE squad with cymro, saboteur, dukat, von small, psykfallet and some others. Or in a hslan based one, also good work there.
Some squadwork is outright epic, even as it is with only 2-3 guys, and I remember working extremly well with Hetzenhauer or Dazlayer as well...

But often when the familiar names are not there, I find myself cursing and setting up my own squad, just to elevate the complete team from obscurity. Although being SL can be fun sometimes, it also has it weaknesses, like abstaining from combat in order to survive. And a SL in my opinion must also use voip to give commands, sometimes I don't wanna play with my headset on, my gaming addiction is geeky enough as it is.
But rewards are great if you lead well, I remember one time on PDH I was a SL with a great squad and led the squad all the way to the farm without dying. Smoke and mg's covering the advance, aggressive advancing and covering each other. God I love that!  :D

I remember also some games on infantry based maps, with like 15 players unassigned, the horror!

Anyways, Bard, what's your name ingame? Ill invite you next time I set up a squad.

Hey Bard,

Nice read, your story. It could well have been my own (apart from the addiction and its consequences - I had my days as well, just not that extreme).

Like posted before, try to join good squads. Now you posted this, so more SL's will be willing to have you since they now "know" you are a teamplayer.

On the subject of being an SL: sometimes I feel like it, sometimes I don't. Since I usually get the award for "Most Deaths" it isn't the most sensible thing to let me lead a squad. But when I'm up for it, I'll do everything to make my squad useful for the team and if possible best squad.

"Guerilla" squad is also nice usually, when Gubaru.jp is squad leader.

Here's what I find:
If you have a fast connection and/ or alot of RAM and connect quickly, you should create a squad. At least 2 others will join you. Sure they wont always play teamplay, but if you give orders that are reasonable, thrown in with a bit of excitement... like in Port of Bessin, I always tell my squad to take the overlooking bunker defenses i.e where the trenches are. Its a toughy, but my boyz are always ready for it. All they need is to be able to spawn on me when they die or enough of them stay alive to engage the enemy while the rest who died can come back in a hurry. It sometimes helps to select the right kit, such as the scout or the squad captain

I use smoke, I id enemy units, I communicate with text.. and they get the general tactic, irrespective of who they are

Its harder if you aren't squad leader, but not impossible. Pubbies, like most people want to have fun, not TK, not spoil gameplay, HAVE FUN. If your team-playing doesn't retract from this fact, they are good for it. You just need a way to get them to get it

I find, the voice over being the best to use, but I've as yet never been able to get it to work :-(

Over-organisation can actually kill gameplay. I have played with some teams that clearly played team. They were so mysterious in their ways, their tactics were no better than anyone elses, and in the end, things were slow.

A sign of success is when I lead a team over and over again, and we do a good job, someone or some squad would, in another game, want me to join their squad, sometimes, even lead!
