General Discussion / Re: Aug. 09/2011 Gamespy review of 2.4

Every time a map loads, you'll have 20 people going "nooo..zzzz" and 20 people going "yes!!!" and 24 people going "hmm ok, Ill grab a new beer, hope this map will be fun".

But still those 20 "OH noez-people" will stay on the server, so maps aren't that bad. I think deversity in game play is FH2's greatest feature. Compared to Vanilla bf2 and especially one of the newer CoD-games (heresy), where game play is pretty much the same every round.

While the game play in a map like PHL can't be compared at all to a map like Bastonge.

Hollow point ammunition is banned in war, it's used a lot for hunting.

Anyway, the total death count is 76.  68 on Utöya and 8 in Oslo.
Must have been a mix up or something in the chaos and havoc.

Still a tragedy... my thought to the families and friends of the victims.

even, disarming unburied mines is tough work. Often you booby trap mines so they blow up when you try to disable them.
But I still support to make the digging time longer (though only 20s aprox) and being able to place mines unburied.

The thing with buried mines is more strategical, you make minefield before the actual battle. Like the night before, or even months before.
When the shit hits the fan you usually just drop the mines down, to make the enemy stop their advance.

DEAR JOHN

An American serviceman stationed in Afghanistan got the following letter from his girlfriend home in the States:

"Dear John
I'm sorry, but I don't want to continue our relationship. The distance between us is to big. Moreover I must confess that I have been unfaithful to you twice since you left. So it's best that it's over.

Wendy

PS. Can you please return that photo I gave you. DS"

The soldier John was stricken by sadness from the unfaithfulness of his former girlfriend. But eventually decided to answer Wendys mail. Before taking up the pen he walked around the base and collected all the photos of girlfriends, sisters, daughters even moms and aunts from his fellow soldiers. Together with the picture of Wendy he had 57 pictures. He put them all in an envelope and wrote:

"Dear Wendy

I'm sorry but I have forgotten who you are.
Can you please pick out your picture and send the rest back.

Ciao
John"

Very fascinating camo scheme for Matilda tanks , used in defend of Malta  8)
PIC
PIC

I'm assuming this camo is to make the tank harder to spot from the air when hiding under the shade of a tree, correct?

Yea, reducing visibility by breaking up the outline of the vehicle, the same basis for any camouflage pattern.

Great photo essay on combat rations of the various coalition members in Afghanistan:

Click on the pictures to see inside each ration.

The Swedish Cod stew is really tasty, shame that the army now use cheaper and less tasty field rations.

At rifles are hated by everyone.

The guy who uses it get's frustrated because he cannot kill tanks, while mr truckdriver will get mad because he gets blown to smithereens by one shot.

Basically, an At rifle is useful against almost everything, exept tanks

Exactly. Couldn't we have mortars as a limited class and AT rifles as pick up kits ?

Imagine the insane base rape....

Suggestions / Deploying times of mines
« on: 15-08-2010, 15:08:07 »
How about making two fire modes for the mines, one with a short "deploy time" that leave the whole mine visible above the ground. And one with a longer that symbolize that you dig the  mine down?
Would be a nice feature to allow some tactical flexibility.

Does anyone of you know how heavy even a fairly modern radio set is?
And even apart from that there are usually only 1 radio per platoon. Communication between squads are done by shouting or runners.
