FH2 Help / Support / Re: FH2/BF2 refuses to start
« on: 26-07-2011, 22:07:10 »
I'm having this problem as well. Installed 2.4 correctly, BF2 fully patched (Steam), checked profiles, the refresh rate is correct. Was able to start FH2 once and after that it won't start.

Suggestions / Change Bren Carrier Driver Position
« on: 11-10-2010, 11:10:57 »
As it is, the Bren Carrier driver sticks his head out the top of the vehicle, and as a result, it's very easy for him to get shot, and it's incredibly frustrating trying to drive these things knowing full well that you shouldn't be getting hit so easily, yet for reasons beyond your control, your avatar is an idiot and sticks his head out instead of using the perfectly functional vision slit. The driver position should be moved down so that his head is looking through the driver slit and is only able to be shot from above.

All PR maps are huge? Aint em?... So they do asewell need more than 64 players...

Yes, but people generally stick together in PR so that's not really a problem. In FH2, the maps are smaller, but you have everyone running off on their own in some random direction. In PR, you have squads fighting squads. In FH2, you have lone one-on-one encounters.

Yes, so what aspects of the game need to change in order to give players the incentive to stick together?

I've been playing FH2 and PR a lot lately, and though I wish FH2 was a bit less arcadey with regards to certain aspects, one thing the game could really use improvement on compared to PR is the teamwork aspect. What is it about PR that makes people communicate and cooperate so much?

FH has lot of great maps, but about half of them are too big for a 64 player game considering that fact that people just run off on their own. For example, Mareth and Cobra, two maps where the attacking team never gets very far because they never possess the coordination to attack the objectives in more than a slow trickle. How can we make players want to stick together?

What is it about PR that facilitates this level of cooperation? Is it simply the mentality of the player base? Is PR harder to play than FH2? In my experience, FH2 is a lot less forgiving than PR, but is that an inherent aspect of the game mechanics, or due to the way people play the game? Is there a specific feature in PR that makes this so?

FH2 Help / Support / Strange lag effect
« on: 01-10-2010, 21:10:26 »
So being in Australia, naturally I have a terrible ping everywhere. This is usually tolerable in most games, however, there seems to be a weird effect lag has on iron sights that doesn't happen in other games. Basically what happens is, whenever I bring up my sights, my view will suddenly snap back to some previous position X amount of time ago and retrace it's path. This makes it extremely difficult to pull of quick shots, as my sights spaz everywhere.

Anyone else have this problem? I find it strange that this doesn't happen in any other game.

FH2 Help / Support / Degrading performance
« on: 01-10-2010, 21:10:42 »
Hello,

I just installed this mod a couple days ago and it's great! But I'm having trouble with performance. Specifically, my framerate seems to slowly degrade as I play until eventually it gets to an unplayable state. How long it takes for this to happen varies, but it has happened every time so far. (As a side note, an odd side effect of this low framerate is that every mouse movement is doubled. For example, if I move my mouse a certain distance to the left and my view moves correspondingly, after I stop moving my mouse, my view will move again to the left that same distance, making the game utterly completely unplayable even if you could tolerate the low framerate. Talk about kicking me while I'm down.  )

Changing the graphics settings seems to have no effect on whether this happens or not.

My system specs are:

Dell Studio XPS 1645
Intel Core i7 -720QM (1.6Ghz, 6MB Cache)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
4 GB RAM
ATI HD4670 Mobility Radeon

Any ideas?
